We discovered the place almost like an accident. We decided to wait cause the food seemed to be really delicious and the place very typical. We waited almost 1:30 hours even because after they called us, the waiter that should prepare our table forgot completely our presence. Of course, if I had read the recommendations before I would know about the long times waiting. BUT, if I ever come back to Setúbal (isn't that I got crazy with the city) I will come back for sure. Why? Well, because if you know the waiting is the only sin, then you can go pre-disposed to "suffer" the moment watching juicy food passing in front of you, and in exchange you taste local and very good food and pay a cheap price. We ate a dorado with potatoes and salad, the quality of the food was as we expected: local, typical, fresh and very very tasty. The waiter was really nice with us even if he just speaks Portuguese we managed to understand each other mixing Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Fresh charcoal grilled fish!! I don’t think you’ll find a place more authentic and casual offerings wide variety of grilled fish than Bombordo. They clearly know what their doing because the place is usually packed. It’s worth going hungry and getting the fish rotation (rodizio) which means a waiter will come to your table with a different fish every 10-15 minutes. Our neighboring table got this and we were watching in awe. We chose the Fried Chocos starter (fried cuttlefish) and grilled sardines, grilled Espada (swordfish) and a meat/egg/fries combo for the kids. Everything was excellent and plenty. Don’t be put of when ordering. They will take really good care of you but may not be the best communicators. We sat outside and the setting is very basic and not pretty. But it’s worth going because of the food. And it was not expensive either.

Our tour guide and friend Diogo loves this spot. It’s not fancy and all the locals go here. It is very very VERY well priced for the amount and quality of food that you get. Three people in our group decided to do the “tasting” which is anywhere from 8 to 12 fish depending on the catches of the day. My mom and I decided to do entrées which were just as delicious. I couldn’t recommend this place more. It truly is a local spot and worth going to, but usually they can be very busy so I’d recommend going early for lunch or later in the day. Take note it’s cash only. the owner is very friendly and wonderful to speak with. Last week… The guys that did the taste were extremely stuffed, but very happy with their full bellies!! Oh and the yummy sangria sneaks up on you so watch out!

We have been here a few times. The fish were excellent, grilled to perfection. The staff was very nice and very helpful. However, the last time we were here was different. Things have changed quite a bit. First of all, the restaurant was using a few subtle tactics to charge customers for less. - The octopus salad with bread and olives is €6 extra, and no one told us. - The €15.5 option for all the variety of fish is not true. We ordered this option, and we got mostly sadines and got a couple more other types of fish. They are stuffing us with mostly sadines and cheap fish. When I asked the head waiter there, why are we just getting sadines? He just threw his hands up. Disappointed!

I've been waiting for over an hour!? The person who called the queue didn't speak English. He called number by Portuguese language. We were 2 people, in queue number 11. We know how to call number 11 in Portuguese. We listened very carefully to when our number would be called, but the person who came after me was in many queues ahead of us. We tried to call the waiter who called the queue but he walk very quickly. He stood outside the store and shouted for a number, then hurried into the store. The waiter is rude and does not care about the feelings of the customers at all. He act like he doesn’t care. Are there any 0 star on google map? Or minus? I gonna give it to you.
