Churrasqueira Calito — Restaurant in Setúbal

This was my second visit to this restaurant.

Unfortunately, this time the chef, who was also acting as a waiter, gave us a menu with the first page stapled together, preventing us from seeing the options for the “à discrição” (all you can eat) menu. When we asked about it, he gave us an unclear explanation involving price changes.

Meanwhile, two of the five tables inside were occupied by locals, who were being served as much meat as they wanted. This made it clear that we were being treated differently.

This is especially frustrating because, during my first visit just a few weeks ago, there were no issues with ordering from the full menu. It’s a shame because the food is really good, but they may lose five customers due to what seems like discrimination, selective treatment, or something else entirely.

Esta foi a minha segunda visita a este restaurante.

Infelizmente, desta vez o chef, que também servia de empregado de mesa, entregou-nos um menu com a primeira página agrafada, impedindo-nos de ver as opções do menu “à discrição”. Quando lhe perguntámos sobre isso, deu-nos uma explicação pouco clara envolvendo alterações de preços.

Enquanto isso, duas das cinco mesas interiores estavam ocupadas por habitantes locais, que recebiam tanta carne quanto quisessem. Isso deixou claro que estávamos a ser tratados de forma diferente.

Isto é especialmente frustrante porque, durante a minha primeira visita, há apenas algumas semanas, não houve problemas com os pedidos do menu completo. É pena porque a comida é muito boa, mas podem perder cinco clientes devido ao que parece ser discriminação, tratamento seletivo ou algo...

What a lovely little restaurant 🤩 … specialized in portuguese grilled barbecue chicken “ frango churrasco” … all you can eat and very very delicious, very friendly and funny staff.

We had quite some piri piri chicken in Portugal, but this one was definitely one of the very best! Reasonable prices as well.

Not many seats inside, so be sure you call before or book a table.

Estivemos várias vezes neste restaurante, tanto para o almoço quanto para o jantar, e a experiência foi sempre maravilhosa. A comida é simplesmente impecável, muito bem preparada, saborosa e feita com ingredientes de qualidade. O ambiente é ainda melhor: acolhedor, familiar e com um atendimento que faz você se sentir em casa. Sem dúvida, um dos melhores lugares da região para comer bem e relaxar.

Pero lo que realmente lo hace especial es el ambiente: cálido, acogedor y con un trato cercano que te hace sentir en familia. Sin duda, uno de nuestros sitios favoritos en la zona.

🇬🇧 We visited this restaurant several times for both lunch and dinner, and every experience was wonderful. The food is excellent, tasty, well prepared and made with fresh ingredients. But what really makes it special is the atmosphere, warm and welcoming, with staff that make you feel like part of the family. Without a doubt, one of our favorite places...
