A Hidden Gem in Sintra Just a few steps from the historic center of Sintra, we stumbled upon a true hidden gem — Becco de Villa (Sintra) Restaurant. Tucked away from the crowds, it offered the perfect setting for an intimate and memorable dinner. As first-time visitors to the area, we were warmly welcomed by our server, who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Not only did they help us select the perfect local wine and guide us through the menu, but they also shared rich insights about Sintra, the surrounding region, and must-see sights — a truly personal touch that made our evening even more special. We began with a delicious melted cheese and garlic appetizer, served with biscuits — as we were sharing, our server brought us extra. For the main course, we chose the seafood rice, a standout dish featuring a fresh medley of seafood in a rich, flavorful stock. It was, without a doubt, one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Despite being full, we somehow made room for dessert — a homemade lime pie with a chocolate base, perfectly paired with a shot of local Ginjinha. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal. Becco da Villa (Sintra) is a must-visit for anyone in the area. The combination of outstanding food, attentive service, and local charm makes this restaurant a true highlight of...

I was very disappointed with this place. While the staff were friendly, the service was extremely slow. I told the waiter I only had an hour before I had to leave for the tour bus and he assured me that would be enough time to order my meal. It didn't show up until 45 mins later. I ordered steak on a plate. I took 2 bites to realize there was HAM ON IT! They failed to mention that on the menu. How can you add pork to a dish and not tell people about it? Thank goodness I ordered an appetizer and ate that for lunch while I waited for the steak and then rejected it. I felt terrible to throw that whole thing out but what could I do? I was very surprised that the manager didn't even ask why I didn't eat it. He just took the payment. I even added a tip. But that meal cost me $57CAD and all I had was a plate of cheese! Failure to disclose and no interest in customer satisfaction. I only chose that restaurant bc the tour guides suggested it was a good one. What a crappy way to spend my last...

Went here yesterday early evening after waiting for half an hour service at another restaurant locally. Was waited on by a really friendly waitress immediately and got our drinks quickly. The prices at Becco are fantastic (the other restaurant wanted more for toast than Becco did for filet mignon!!).

I ordered the tuna steak which was perfectly cooked, others in my party ordered codfish, sirloin and turkey steak. All satisfied although the sirloin was a little thin, flavour was perfect though.

All meals were served with a side of crisps (potato chips for the Americans) which were assorted sweet potato and potato. They were a surprise but it seems to be the way of the restaurant and worked really well to soak up the juices of the meats.

The facilities were clean and quite modern with a quintessentially portugese flair to it.

This place is worth finding, the prices and the staff were head and shoulders above other restaurants in the area.

Will eat here again next...

The food is great and the staff are really engaging and friendly. We really enjoyed our time at the restaurant and although the seating area may not be as picturesque as nearby places the food is certainly top tier. In fact the best food we have had in Portugal. The cod portion was large, it was not as salty as other places we have tried the dish. It’s perfectly combined with wilted spinach and pumpkin mash. Also, a really solid portion - see the photo! The peppers were fresh, so good we reordered this dish, if you order this as a started keep the dip you may want it later. The octopus was well cooked, the texture was great. Served with potato’s and peppers again lovely. The prawns were great, I recommend you order these with bread to soak up the ‘god juice’. The only dish we were not impressed with was the mushroom dish, in amongst the others it was not exceptional. Shout out to the staff, they made all the food that but better!

Cute little restaurant in a Sintra alleyway! I was on an all-day tour in Sintra, and my tour guide recommended we stop by Becco for a tasty, authentic Portuguese lunch. It was a tad touristy (but that's to be expected in a tourist-y town), but generally very cute and cozy! Our server was super friendly, and they have menus available in Portuguese, Spanish, French, and English. The food was solid and portions quite large -- my mother and I split a house salad, starter sampler, cod, and tuna steak, and we were quite stuffed. Everything was very fresh and well-prepared, and had a good balance of flavors. The starter isn't super worth it at €8,50 for a bit of bread and a couple small dips, but the bread was warm and soft, and I loved the way they prepared the olives. All in all, if you're visiting Sintra (which you absolutely should -- it's a must-visit in Lisbon), Becco de Sintra is a delightful stop to refuel in between palaces.
