Upon the recommendation of our guide, we had lunch at Tasca Saloia. Food was very good. However, service was well below average. We ordered bread and olives, but server said we never did and she never asked if she should add it. No appetizer for us. Service was slow (it was not busy that day), and server never asked if we wanted drinks after the initial round. She didn’t have the time to provide good service, but she had plenty of time to share her life story (she was from Nepal) and chat us up. She was very friendly until it came time to pay the bill. While giving the credit card machine to my husband, the server proceeded to ask for a tip. We said no tip. She finished the transaction, only said “Obrigada,” and left….never saw her again. When we relayed this incident to our guide, he said asking for a tip is considered very rude and confirmed we did the right thing by refusing. He said that had he been there, she wouldn’t have asked for a tip. Because the service was poor, so she wouldn’t have been tipped anyway. Overall, we enjoyed our lunch in spite...

This was the most amazing, magical, magnificent experience of my life. I can’t begin to explain how great the food was. The sandwich I got was so good, it had steak, gravy, and lettuce; the buns were magnificent, cooked to perfection. Now, the service man, the service was probably the best I have ever had. He was so kind and made us feel very much at home by speaking our home language and helping us choose the best option in food for us. The cake was so good; it was spongy, and the chocolate was so rich and sweet that it really elevated this experience to the next level and I needed it because earlier in my trip I’d had some good and some bad experiences with food. So, this was a well-deserved break (as I’m on vacation 😉). They forgot my cake at first, but they brought it out so fast, apologized, and made it better. The fries were so good and crispy, and you could tell they were homemade. My only thing is the bathroom, it’s not the best, but the experience canceled it out tenfold. Thank you to my server and...

So, this is just another tourist trap like many other restaurants that exist in tourism places, like sintra or lisbon, they make you pay a moderate cash and you receive farely low quality dishes for what you pay, you can defintly eat some their dishes in other places for less and better around portugal or even close to this restaurant, just get the heck out of places that are "famous" , i ate a "bacalhau a brás" and my girlfriend ate a "bitoque" , mine had difrost cod fish, not even well shredded like its supost too, the onions should not even apear that much, they are just something you cut very fine and fry in the start on the pan to give flavour, not something you want to be eating on the dish, my girlfriend had her fried egg cutted, the meat was poorly done and the french fries werent nothing special either for the price we payed, so in resume like this are simple dishes you can make home and if even on thi,s they fail hard i dont even want to experiment the rest that cost even...

We had an incredible experience at Tasca Sabía! From the moment we walked in, Dipesh and Greta took amazing care of us, providing warm and attentive service that made the evening feel extra special. We enjoyed a fantastic selection of white wine, perfectly paired with an assortment of cheeses, meats, and delicious jams. The fish croquetas were crispy and flavorful, and the cod was cooked to perfection. Every bite was a testament to the quality and thoughtfulness of the menu. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect place to relax and indulge in great food and wine. If you’re in town and looking for an authentic and memorable dining experience, Tasca Sabía is a must-visit—especially with Dipesh and Greta taking care of you! Will definitely be back!

Overall: A pleasant surprise in the heart of "downtown" Sintra. The good: Tons of options to choose from. We split the sausage tapa, which was put aflame in front of us and seared to perfection. The several different types of sausage were each unique and delicious. My wife got the shrimp acorda while I had the francesinha, both of which were hearty and flavorful. The francesinha had a healthy amount of sauce, was stuff with ham and sausage, and had a perfectly cooked egg on top. We both had leftovers for the next day. Service was friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable. The not-so-good: Not much, just not a 5-star "mind blowing" experience. That said, we certainly enjoyed our meal. Food/drink: 8.5/10 Atmosphere: 8/10 Service: 8.5/10
