We ordered some food and my partner ordered a 40cl beer. When drink arrived we could immediately tell it was not 40cl. I have worked as a bartender for over 7 years and in hospitality for more than 15 years and I know this was not a 40cl drink. So my partner asks to clarify if not a mistake was made. The lady, we understood manager of this place, showed him an unmarked normal glass (looks like the standard Ikea glass) stating that this was 40cl. He said this does not show anything. She was also very unfriendly to him and we decided to not stay any longer and to cancel the entire order.
We wanted to leave and she demanded we still pay for the beer and immediately threatened us with calling the police.
This to me is insane. Really? You threaten your guest with police over one untouched beer? Very unprofessional and super unfriendly. We paid for the beer (still untouched) and left.
I have to say the other staff were very friendly to us but this lady/manager is living on another planet.
I found exactly the same glass she showed and it is not 40cl, not even close. Attached is picture of a 33cl bottle of beer and similar glass almost full and still some beer left in the bottle.
Probably the centiliters of other drinks are also not the same as stated on the menu. So writing this review as fair warning to...
Read moreWe went to this place after wrapping up our Sintra experience. Had some trouble getting a table initially but did get one after a while.
Service was slow and not the most prompt. From a gastronomic perspective, I would say this place is better for those who prioritize drinks with a tapas/accompaniment and not the other way round
The port and tonic I got here had a white wine and featured cinnamon sticks in the drink which was a first. And a refreshing first too!
The sweet potatoes and rosemary was just that. Sweet potatoes and rosemary 😁. Nothing fancier, no extras, no seasoning or other flavours. As you can see from the photos they were boiled and diced into fairly big blocks.
The bolinhos in bacalhau here were fairly average. The cod tasted not the most fresh and a little dry. The ones we had in Guimarães had a far better interior. The lentils accompanying the bolinhos were average as well.
The bifana sandwich here was also rustic and on the dryer side. It tasted fine though.
On the whole i imagine you can probably find better places near the sintra historical center if food is your priority but this place was legit if you want to nibble a little something by your wine/beer. The alcohol is the bride here, the food...
Read moreWe came into this shop in the centre of Sintra one busy Sunday afternoon. The shop looked good from outside and the few tables on the ground floor was full. An exhausted, sad looking waitress not very enthuasiatically gestured us that there's spaces in the basement. The basement had smell of cat urine and on place was leaking. The other couple immediately left while we stayed as we were hungry and just trying to have a quick bite before leaving Sintra. We ordered two items - the sardines on toast and a pimentos plus drinks - the sardines were totally disappointing - only canned sardines on some very dried, hard bread (not even toasted). The salad was fresh enough. The pimento never come so we had to cancel it and continue our way. Coming here is a wrong choice! But we want to add that the service was ok - we guess the first one we encountered was just tired from the...
