Garagem Café — Restaurant in Sintra

I don't usually comment on reviews but this one is worth my time. Bad management overall. Even though the staff was very polite, we never got our order. After waiting for almost one hour post-ordering, and still not being served, we had to go inside and ask ourselves what the status of the order was. The waitress' response was that because it was quite chaotic on the back, she would get back to us to take our order again. We were sitting there waiting for an entire hour while looking at other tables who order way after as being served first. The fact that we had to go ask ourselves what was going on for them to bother tenting to our order is beyond unacceptable, let alone not even informing us that there would be a delay in the first place. When we were seated, there weren't many tables still waiting for their food, probably somewhere around 3 tables of 2 tops. Having a table waiting for an entire hour for their food while having brought the drinks right after ordering shows how the situation was wrongly handled from the staff's side. The least they could have done was not charge us for the two coffees out of courtesy for their mistake, which they did not. Here is a list of everything that could improve at this place as the location is nice: it does not list all ingredients in the menu. I odered the avocado toast, but they added raw onions that were not listed in the menu. I am allergic to onion and could not eat the whole dish. When I complained about it, the waitress and the ladies in the kitchen were upset and asked me to pay for the new one as well. After a few minutes they decided to make a new one for free but I could see they were very annoyed although it was their fault. So I decided not to accept, as you never know what for vengeance people in the kitchen can put on a dish. Secondly the egg was very undercooked so not very recommended either. the coffee, as many reviews posted it, is indeed bad. It's probably a dirty old machine. We stopped by not expecting much and had such a positive surprise! The food was clearly all home made and fresh. The burgers were pretty good with proper fresh buns and not too dry. We also had the fruit bowl (4 types of seasonal fresh fruit) and the open-faced sandwich with goat’s cheese and braised onions. Everything was very yummy! If I would criticize anything it is that the burger is not cooked to order - or at least we were not asked.
