Avoid grilled cod. It is extremely salty. Some of the other reviewers said that the cod was good. The grilled cod was a salt bomb, and I did not know any better. Also not sure if it’s just for this restaurant, might be for the entire region because they have to keep their fish from spoiling so the cod might be marinated with salt for a long time.
Restaurant will do better by warning people about the salinity of the dish prior to them ordering it. I had mentioned that I did not want salt on the dish, but inadvertently may have ordered the saltiest thing there. No warning given of how salty it was going to be. Ended up feeding it to someone with high blood pressure, and spiking their blood pressure. If someone is ordering fish that’s prepared simply it’s just keep it simple and don’t put so much cream salt and other stuff in. If it looks healthy on the menu keep it healthy on the plate..
Salad was good. They have a salad if your trying to get some veggies in, and healthy balsamic vinaigrette and olive oil dressing. they also have very good “blacked” iberico pork which was a very stellar dish. You can cut off the slight blackened part on the end of the meat for the pork. Most of it is very tasty. Chocolate cake was also very good.
Veggie soup was decent but no chucks of veggies, can taste grounded potato, maybe high in carbohydrates. But low in salt so gotta commend them on not putting a lot of salt in, or maybe because of potato content it is actually high in salt which was absorbed by the potato. So if your carb counting that’s another source of carbohydrates you have to consider when you’re trying to order a balanced meal.
Restaurant can also improve by paying attention to social distancing. When I was there there came in another group came in and altogether there were 3 groups. Not sure why they would try to seat them right next to us when the place is empty. Would have been better to distance everyone out for covid...
Read moreWould not go here again, the staff doesn't care about you and their manager cares even less about you or his staff. Also the food is bad; we had cold soup, a mixed salad comprised only of badly cut onions, big slices of tomatoes and lettuce, and as main we had salmon and steak which both had a very sweet syrup on top. If you want to hear the full story, read on... We had a salad and soup as starter of which only the slightly warm but mostly cold soup came (heated in a microwave?). The waiters didn't notice anything wrong about the missing salad until we told them the salad was missing when I already finished my soup. No apology, no feedback, only a salad fifteen minutes later. Exactly 10 seconds after the salad was finished the main course came. There was a weird and super sweet syrup on both my steak and on the salmon. When the manager came around to pick up the plates we told him about this super sweet syrup on the meat and fish and his reply was: "yeah, I don't like it either". Then why do you have it on the menu?! Also asking for the bill took 15 minutes before we decide to standup and walk over to the counter. When the manager asked to us if it was ok, we gave him the story about the salad and the syrup and he reacted that it's the kitchen's fault, he himself couldn't do anything about it and he didn't want to give us any apology whatsoever. Further more, there was one other couple leaving just after the starter, one other man puked in the bathroom (loud enough for half the restaurant to hear) and we saw other tables that had gotten served three main dishes while the other three of the table had to wait another ten minutes...
Read moreI never do negative reviews but after last night's experience I don't feel bad one bit. We didn't have a booking so asked if they had a table available for two. It was my wife and I's last night in Portugal so was hoping for an excellent finish to an excellent trip. The waiter - young guy, short hair, glasses, pulled a face that looked like he was in pain and that it would be far too hard for him to find us a table, even though we could see quite a few empty tables. Without saying a word he just walks off and then waves us over. He points us to the table and leaves. At this point he still hasnt said one word to us. We sit down, look at eachother and said "well that was interesting," thinking maybe it was a language barrier so we kept hopeful. We look through the menu and decided on drinks pretty quickly. Hoping to order some drinks it felt like he was ignoring us on purpose as he kept walking past us. 2 minutes passed, 5 minutes passed, 10 minutes past and we still haven't heard his voice. Meanwhile people next to us have orderd coffees, finished their coffees, paid and now he's taking his time setting the table next to us again, so i said "we would like to order some drinks please". His face said it all, eyes rolling to the back of his head, sighing out loud, you could just feel his arrogant, rude attitude. We couldn't believe it as we've never experienced such blatantly rude hospitality. We got up and left. The rest of the staff seemed nice, as for the food and drink, I couldn't tell you. At least we found an excellent, friendly restaurant further down the road that made our last night memorable. Wouldn't recommend this place...
