It's such a shame about this restaurant. There were 3 of us that came for dinner each of us ordered the seafood soup in bread bowl thinking it was small so we ordered the paella as well. The soup bowls came and they were huge and loaded with seafood, it was very tasty. We decided that we were way too full after the soup and asked to cancel the paella, but we were told it was too late, which was fair. The paella came and it was huge! We could barely touch it so we asked to get it packed up. When the bill came we realized they didn't even have prices on the menu! We were so hungry that we didn't think twice and certainly didn't think the paella was 50 €! For paella! We were astonished. It was good food, but not that good. And then we found out that they don't even accept credit cards! First of all, the waiter should have warned us about the portion sizes, clearly 3 ladies would not have been able to finish all this food. Secondly, it was very dishonest of them to not put prices on the menu and have a very small sign on the front that they don't accept credit. Money grubbers. Dishonest. Would be a much better restaurant if the prices were better and they disclosed everything right off the bat. The inside decor was pretty nice too so it's a shame it's run by such crooks. Would...

Restaurante Alcobaca is a nice restaurant just few steps away from National Palace of Sintra. The restaurant specializes in traditional Portuguese cuisine, including fresh seafood, grilled meats, and classic regional dishes and good selection of beverages.

The atmosphere at Restaurante Alcobaca is cozy and welcoming, with friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant is housed in a historic building with charming decor, adding to the overall ambiance.

Unlike the many restaurants nearby this restaurant is not overpriced, the portions are generous and the ingredients are fresh and flavorful. The menu offers a range of options for different tastes and dietary preferences, and the wine list features a good selection of Portuguese wines.

The local Portuguese restaurant is located in Sintra village in an alley upward on the left side. One of the dishes "Cod in cream" caught my attention when I was walking past it so I ended up going into the restaurant for a meal.

Upfronts they mentioned that they only take cash and no credit card and since the seat was available, I was seated right away. I order the sangria the cod in cream and I was also trying to order an octopus dish but then do waiter mentioned that it was too much food for me. so I only went with the one that came for.

My food came up around 15 minutes after I ordered and it was a lot more food than I expected. very rich and creamy dish.

The washroom is located beside the door down the spiral stairway somehow the male washroom light did not work at the time when I...

The restaurant is modeled after a wine cellar. We purchased Bachalao soup in bread, Cabbage soup, Bachalao in Minhota style. All of them were great and tasty. Bachalao in Minhota style (name might differ than what i remembered) is a small piece of bachalao served with onions, sweet peppers and potato chips. It looks shocking and weird and as if none of them go together. But it's actually quite good, it even has a sauce which combined all the flavors and we ordered bread in order to consume the sauce. The cabbage soup reminds of mashed potatoes. The soup in bread is thick and rich. All in all, recommend 👍 Only minus is that the WC is in the basement and you need to go down circle stairs. It's not good for people with leg problems.
