Cool place with the highest real google rating I've ever seen. Cheap drinks and lots of tasty tapas that goes well with anything you drink. It's nice that they open all day so we had a very early dinner with the kids. It looks like they were setting up for a fun evening around 7pm so I assume the atmosphere would be amazing later in the night. We ordered everything that was recommended and here's the verdict. The bread board with olives and tuna spread was amazing. I know it seems simple but if you just order that with drinks it would be a great night. The sangria is to die for and really really good. The house wine.... Not so much. The octopus salad was good but tiny portion. Clams were good but not out of this world. The sausage was every promising and it looked cool when it came in flames but it was just okay for us. We liked the perfectly seasoned and tender chicken wings which was just a little spicy and perfectly fried. We liked the veal but it was more vinegery than expected almost like pickled but still good. The chicken gizzards were a surprise hit. Homemade ice cream was good, the lemon flavor is more like a lemon cream but the oreo flavor was amazing. Total cost for 2 adults and 2 kids ordering a lot of food and 4 drinks is 64 euros. Credit cards accepted.

This place deserves all the hype and praise in the world. We had a fantastic dinner of drinks and tapas and everything was delicious and the hospitality was even better. Seriously, forget about the scammy places near the main attractions, town centre, whatever, those places have no heart and soul — go out of your way to come and eat here instead, it’s 1000% worth it. The service was the warmest we’ve had in our entire Portugal trip so far and we’re made to feel like old friends. The place has a lively, cozy vibe perfect for some good food and drinks (my sangria was absolutely freaking delicious, couldn’t help but order a second 😉). The house platter was perfect for grazing and the octopus salad was divine. Everything was delicious and we had such an amazing time with the absolute best service. This town has some shady businesses and practices designed to prey on the hordes of tourists but this place is 100% honest from the heart and you’ll leave feeling full and happy with the absolute best vibes. Anyone coming into Sintra: I cannot recommend this place enough. Thanks so much for an awesome night! No doubt in my mind this will forever be a highlight of our 🇵🇹 trip!! 🙏🙏

Prepare to be swept away on a magical culinary journey as I recount my enchanting experience at a remarkable restaurant during my visit to Portugal. Words cannot fully capture the sheer delight that awaited us as we stepped into this gastronomic haven, where warmth and hospitality embraced us like old friends.

Our epicurean adventure commenced with an exquisitely curated cheese board that transcended all expectations. A mosaic of flavors and textures unfolded before us, as a carefully selected medley of local and international cheeses took center stage. The luscious, creamy bites of cheese harmonized effortlessly with the accompanying medley of fresh fruits, crunchy nuts, and artisanal bread, sending our taste buds into a rapturous symphony of taste.

Just when we thought our palates couldn't be further enchanted, the arrival of the meat board transported us to a realm of carnivorous delight. An opulent presentation of meticulously sliced cured meats adorned the platter, inviting us to savor each tantalizing morsel. From velvety ribbons of prosciutto to robust, smoky chorizo, every slice was a testament to the artisanal mastery and impeccable quality. Each bite unfolded a story, weaving a tale of tradition and heritage that left us spellbound.

As our culinary odyssey continued, we embarked on a captivating exploration of the finest sausages. These culinary gems showcased the artistry and passion of Portuguese cuisine, elevating simple ingredients into delectable works of art. With each bite, we surrendered to the symphony of bold spices and fragrant herbs, a captivating dance of flavors that transported us to the sun-kissed landscapes of Portugal.

Throughout the evening, the attentive and knowledgeable staff served as our gracious guides, taking us on a gastronomic adventure with their infectious enthusiasm. Their passion for their craft shone through, as they shared their expertise and skillfully paired each dish with the perfect wine or beverage. Their dedication to ensuring our dining experience was nothing short of perfection added an extra layer of charm to our already enchanting evening.

The restaurant itself exuded an atmosphere of refined elegance, a haven of warmth and sophistication. Its tastefully curated decor effortlessly blended modernity with timeless charm, creating an ambiance that embraced us with its understated beauty. Every detail, from the flickering candlelight to the carefully chosen tableware, whispered of an attention to aesthetics that truly elevated our dining experience.

In conclusion, my visit to this extraordinary restaurant in Portugal was a voyage of the senses, an affair that transcended mere sustenance and transformed into an unforgettable love affair with Portuguese cuisine. With a cheese board that whispered secrets of terroir, a meat board that embodied the very essence of indulgence, and sausages that danced with fiery passion, each dish was an embodiment of culinary perfection. Combine this with the impeccable service and enchanting ambiance, and you have a recipe for an evening that lingers in the heart and mind. If you find yourself in Portugal, surrender to the allure of this hidden gem. It is a symphony for the senses that will leave an indelible mark...

After leaving all the other reviews for places visited during our trip to Portugal, it's time for the last one. Because it really stands out. Because Tasco do Strauss is like a cherry on the cake.

Our first night in Portugal was in Sintra. It was quite late, and only a couple of places were still open. We randomly chose Tasco do Strauss to eat something. And that was the best decision ever. The moment we stepped in we immediately felt that incredibly welcoming atmosphere. Like, already in the first minutes we felt like old friends there. The approach was not that of a restaurant service, but rather of a kind human relationship. Apart from that, we also really enjoyed the local food (Pedro guided us perfectly about menu). And that 80-90s music, and a company of (most probably) local people joyfully celebrating a birthday next table, all this left us with wonderfully heartwarming feeling. My wife had her birthday on the following day, and we right there booked the table for the second evening.

If on the first day we felt like friends in Tasco do Strauss, on the second it was like the returning of the old friends. After our long walking-sightseeing day, we were greeted by Pedro and Ricardo, who made us clearly feel like home even more. We ate and drank deliciously, and chatted about everything, and joked, now with Metallica and Queen playing in the background. And it felt so good. We really had one of the best days of our lives, and so big input to this was Tasco do Strauss. I said the same to Ricardo that night.

Dear fellow travellers. You probably know this feeling when you want to go back to some place that was really, really good. Here it was something different. We didn't want to return, we wanted just stay there and never leave.

If I could give this place a billion stars out of five, I definitely would. Thank you again, Ricardo, Pedro, and another man whose name I don't know and who also was so welcoming on our first night there. You don't only serve good food and make people feel like precious guests - you show us how people should live and communicate with those around to make the world a better place.

Your guests from Saint Petersburg. Muito...
