The luscious, creamy bites of cheese harmonized effortlessly with the accompanying medley of fresh fruits, crunchy nuts, and artisanal bread, sending our taste buds into a rapturous symphony of taste.
Just when we thought our palates couldn't be further enchanted, the arrival of the meat board transported us to a realm of carnivorous delight. An opulent presentation of meticulously sliced cured meats adorned the platter, inviting us to savor each tantalizing morsel. Read moreAfter leaving all the other reviews for places visited during our trip to Portugal, it's time for the last one. Because it really stands out. Because Tasco do Strauss is like a cherry on the cake.
Our first night in Portugal was in Sintra. It was quite late, and only a couple of places were still open. We randomly chose Tasco do Strauss to eat something. And that was the best decision ever. The moment we stepped in we immediately felt that incredibly welcoming atmosphere. Like, already in the first minutes we felt like old friends there. The approach was not that of a restaurant service, but rather of a kind human relationship. Apart from that, we also really enjoyed the local food (Pedro guided us perfectly about menu). And that 80-90s music, and a company of (most probably) local people joyfully celebrating a birthday next table, all this left us with wonderfully heartwarming feeling. My wife had her birthday on the following day, and we right there booked the table for the second evening.
If on the first day we felt like friends in Tasco do Strauss, on the second it was like the returning of the old friends. After our long walking-sightseeing day, we were greeted by Pedro and Ricardo, who made us clearly feel like home even more. We ate and drank deliciously, and chatted about everything, and joked, now with Metallica and Queen playing in the background. And it felt so good. We really had one of the best days of our lives, and so big input to this was Tasco do Strauss. I said the same to Ricardo that night.
Dear fellow travellers. You probably know this feeling when you want to go back to some place that was really, really good. Here it was something different. We didn't want to return, we wanted just stay there and never leave.
If I could give this place a billion stars out of five, I definitely would. Thank you again, Ricardo, Pedro, and another man whose name I don't know and who also was so welcoming on our first night there. You don't only serve good food and make people feel like precious guests - you show us how people should live and communicate with those around to make the world a better place.

Read moreCool place with the highest real google rating I've ever seen. Cheap drinks and lots of tasty tapas that goes well with anything you drink. It's nice that they open all day so we had a very early dinner with the kids. It looks like they were setting up for a fun evening around 7pm so I assume the atmosphere would be amazing later in the night. We ordered everything that was recommended and here's the verdict. The bread board with olives and tuna spread was amazing. I know it seems simple but if you just order that with drinks it would be a great night. The sangria is to die for and really really good. The house wine.... Not so much. The octopus salad was good but tiny portion. Clams were good but not out of this world. The sausage was every promising and it looked cool when it came in flames but it was just okay for us. We liked the perfectly seasoned and tender chicken wings which was just a little spicy and perfectly fried. We liked the veal but it was more vinegery than expected almost like pickled but still good. The chicken gizzards were a surprise hit. Homemade ice cream was good, the lemon flavor is more like a lemon cream but the oreo flavor was amazing. Total cost for 2 adults and 2 kids ordering a lot of food and 4 drinks is 64 euros. Credit...
