Restaurante Piri-Piri — Restaurant in Tomar

My wife, mother and I stopped for lunch. We had the grilled chicken, the baked cod in corn meal, and chicken piri-piri. We also ordered the olives, bread, and a liter of their house red wine. While everything was absolutely delicious, I took top prize for the delicious peri-peri chicken, but everything was very satisfying. Olives were marinated in garlic and oregano, and so wonderful. The service was excellent. When I was done with my chicken, I realized I had managed to get drops of chicken grease/juice on my shirt. Typical for Tomar and the surroundings. You can get the specialty of the region - ”super hard pork” here. You would need special knife to cut it and be careful with biting. I understand this is the way most of the people like it here but still don't get how come 🥴

Chicken with mushrooms (in Tomar it always means champignons) was ok. At least there was no fried egg on top. The menu lacks basic information about the dishes. Vegetable soup had no taste at all. Costoleta de borego was average but had the feeling the meet was taken out of the freezer when we ordered it.

Waitress spoke English potato cake with shrimps was good and haven't seen it...

When we came in and it was empty (inside outside I think there were 2 taken tables outside) and because it looks a bit dated wr thought "oh well, everything else is full so let's just eat and be done with it". Boy how they surprised us! The staff was incredibly nice and attentive, they also interacted super well and very friendly with my toddler, the music playing wasn't bad ( way better than loud noisy music or just low Tvs yelling at you) , the food came quickly, it wasn't too hot or cold inside and the food was super nice!
