Went with a bunch of friends that were craving Italian food around 8 when it was still light out. When we got there, they said there was going to be a little bit of a wait for our seats which we understood and they introduced the principles of O’Siciliano. They said they were a family business and we were very excited to try their food. We got seated and we had ordered. However, after 45 minutes we had realized that our food was not being prioritized. People arriving after us were having their food served before us. I had ordered the tomato soup and the tortellini al forno. The tomato soup took at least an hour to come and my friends who had not ordered any appetizers had waited even longer for any food to even arrive. I was traveling with a program and had to be back during a certain time as a curfew and we had to complain for them to serve us our food. They claim to serve authentic Italian food but the quality is very poor. The tomato soup was just alright and the tortellini al forno was not good at all. This restaurant took 2 HOURS for us to get all of our food and I bet if we hadn’t complained it would’ve taken even longer to arrive. When we had left it was almost pitch black. We were very disappointed with our visit and our food. You’ll definitely be waiting a while if you’re hoping for a quick bite. However, they did bring us blankets as it got colder throughout the night which...
Read moreThe only reason this restaurant does not make 5 stars, is that it doesn’t have the best views Tomar has to offer. Having said that it is still a cozy and quaint setting in a small side street in the old town center. I am dining here for the second time, and this restaurant is worth going out of the way for. The food and presentation is excellent, and while classical Italian there are some interesting ‘Portuguese twists’ to the delivery! Portions are generous, and everything served is fresh, ripe and well served. Obviously popular, there is not a vacant table and clientele is a mix of locals and visiting Portuguese, but German, English and French were amongst the groups eating. The staff- everyone has a smile, despite the full house and it’s calmly delivered service. Attentive, but never intrusive or stressed. The requested white house wine was spot-on. It will definitely become a ‘regular’ place for me. Next time I’ll try the pizza, which several other patrons were favorably commenting on, and which looked (and...
Read moreTerrible. We ordered a pizza and a pork cutlet for lunch. It took a long time to arrive so we were looking forward to a fresh, hand-made meal. The pizza tasted bland, apparently the base was a pre-made one (frozen?) and doughy, the base sauce was watery and it had an odd taste. The pork cutlet (just one small cutlet on a big plate with a single cherry tomato, silly balsamic squiggle and separate portion of undercooked spaghetti oil/garlic in a little tin) was undercooked and clear fluid came out of it when pressed with a fork. We asked the waiter to take it back to the kitchen and cook it some more which he kindly did but it came back burnt on both sides, dripping oil and bone dry. The spaghetti was, by this time, cold, of course. I left 1/3 of it as it was inedible.
The waitress did kindly adjust the bill but chef, if you can’t cook a simple pizza and pork cutlet, I think it might be time to consider...
