This has to be the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant. I came in and ordered at 1:15pm. Over 10 tables came after me and ordered and all received there food and most finished there meals and had desert while I sit there waiting for over 45 mins and still no food. The waitress is definitely not normal and mentions that all these people had come before me when I asked her what was going on with my meal. I hope they have cameras in there so they can see how much of mistake they made and hopefully not do this to anyone else. That was my first and definitely the last time I walk into this restaurant. I wouldn't know if the food was any good cause when your workers answer was all these people had come before me, which was 100% not true. It left me at a total disgust instead of your worker realizing the complete mistake and taking the time to figure out what she or the kitchen had done wrong with my order. So yeah my review is based on a honest and rude experience and I left and didn't eat anything. We all make mistakes but I definitely know how to admit and fix mine when I'm wrong. You can probably teach and learn to do the same instead allowing your customers to be lied to and left to be disrespected when all they had was good intentions on enjoying the food and looking forward to posting pics and commenting on what was supposed to be a good...
Read moreWhen a restaurant places a note on its menu that “staff is a not a machine and dishes are freshly prepared and customers should be ready for a waiting time of up 45’ ending with a remark that should you be in a “bad mood better stay at home”. You think that you would welcome and be served the most wonderful meal but that was far from the case, after almost 50’ of waiting both of our arrive meals lack in taste. They were bland specifically the prawn curry. The staff was nice but didn’t listen to the customer! They seemed to be programmed things in their one way (like machines ironically ). From the outset we told them we didn’t want their covers (bread, butter, olives, cheese etc) they could remove it from the table. They never did, only almost 45’ later when the dishes are getting ready to be served and guess what?! The added on the final bill. Honestly chef Miriam, you place such note to your customers be...
Read moreOn rare occasions, an unexpected travel experience stands out and creates a special memory. Such was our dinner tonight at Sabores ao Rubro in Tomar. First of all, the food was outstanding. Barb was very happy with her steak with mustard sauce, and I was thrilled with my vegetable gratin and a side dish of migas. These two vegetarian dishes were completely different and both were delicious. The house wine was equally satisfying. So, if you have dinner there, you can be assured of eating very well.
Beyond the meal we had a wonderful conversation with Miriam the chef and owner. After finishing up in the kitchen, she played the piano next to our table and explained the many family members who play a part in taking such good care of those who dine there.
This was our best meal in Portugal and a...
