O Tabuleiro — Restaurant in Tomar

I was a bit hesitant when I saw the menu in three languages on the door because usually the restaurants that advertise in multiple languages on main shopping streets are tourist traps with mediocre food. I am happy to say O Tabuleiro is not that kind of restaurant!!!

We ordered two half dose dishes - arroz de peixe and bochechas estufadas. The bochechas came with rice and potatos from the oven. The food was very tasty and more than enough for the two of us! The arroz de peixe is a soupy rice dish made with fish and seafood broth, served with delectable chunks of perca (perch), mussels, shrimps and clams. There are big pieces of the perch which are soft, flavorful, fresh and meaty. Then there is a small piece of perch which is the fatty melt in your mouth belly meat. Very delicious! The bochechas estufadas is pork cheeks, very flavorful and tender. Well complemented with orange slices and the perfect potatos. We also had a flan that was perfectly eggy, smooth and drenched in dark caramel.

If youre looking for a place to have a taste of typical portuguese food, this is the place! I know this place for 20 years and every single time i return here i love it more and more. Its by far the best restaurant in Tomar. First, the menu includes tons of different typical portuguese dishes and every single one is served in great quantity. The flavour of the dishes are just like granny s and couldnt be more delicous! To make things better, the environment is realy warming and the decoration is based on Tomar history. The staff is realy thoughtful and just want to serve you the best experience possible. The cherry on top of the cake is the moment you see the bill and yoi notice its an incridibly cheap price for the quality...

Come here for a taste of Portuguese home cooking at its best. If you come to Tomar you must stop here at least once for lunch or dinner. The pork cheeks were delicious served in an amazing savory sauce, I couldn't help but eat them before taking a picture. The mixed seafood rice was such a pleasant flavor and was packed with codfish, shrimp, clams and a gigantic mussel which all mixed with the rice to create an incredible flavor.
