Food: 4-stars Franceshina and the tiger prawns for food. And the mix cheese & meat platter. Franceshina has a bit of spicy kick to it and the prawns were overcooked for my liking and maybe not fresh since it was sticking to the meat. Overall decent for a touristy spot. Mix cheese and meat platter: meh nothing special. Don't order it :) Service: 3-star Seated by the stairwell because the upstairs "was closed" according to the waiter, but actually they let other people go up. So maybe have to request them if we can be seated upstairs for better views. Atmosphere: is still great, I like the decor and the old rustic feels. I would still come to this restaurant in the future. Just maybe not the first priority, maybe only when I'm around this spot again and enjoying the views.

I know that people (tourists) in Porto might be inclined to sit on a table outside by the water to eat their fancy Portuguese meal but this restaurant should not be overlooked. No outside tables but indoor seating that overlooks the river, Porto, and the bridge. My husband and I sat at the table right by the balcony and we had a lovely view. I had the seafood rice and he had the octopus. Let’s just say that both portions were very generous and tasty. Seafood rice was a bit salty and came in some kind of broth but it was delicious. The octopus was just seasoned nicely and big. We were very satisfied, and Luis offered wonderful service. This restaurant is not busy but it should have more customers as it is just a gem of a place. Not overly expensive but not cheap as well.

Had a wonderful lunch deal for €13. I’d say it’s too much food actually so you must make sure you’re very hungry. We had the legume soup, mixed grilled fish, and steak. For dessert we had flan and an egg pudding. The mains were very good. The mixed fish had 3 types of fish and all taste great. The soup was good too but a bit heavy. The only thing that we didn’t like was the flan - this was unfortunately not good at all. Now, the reason I give 5 stars is because the waiter we had was EXTREMELY nice and the best waiter we’ve had in Porto. His name is Luis. He was so lovely and felt like he was feeding us at his home. Would recommend for the food and hospitality!

A Gastronomic Gem - Barris do Douro!

I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Barris do Douro during my recent visit to Porto and it was nothing short of spectacular. This restaurant, with its local cuisine, personifies the vibrant spirit of the city and serves up an exceptional gastronomic experience that is sure to leave you satiated and pleasantly surprised.

The first thing that strikes you as you walk into Barris do Douro is the warmth and hospitality of the staff. From the moment we entered, we were welcomed with genuine smiles, promptly seated and treated like family. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and made us feel at home with their impeccable service. It is evident that they take pride in their work and go the extra mile to ensure every patron has an unforgettable experience.

The meal started with a selection of amazing starters. Each dish was a melody of flavors, textures and colors that showcased the culinary prowess of the kitchen staff. Every bite was fresh, delicious, and a testament to the love and dedication put into their food.

However, the star of the show was undoubtedly the house-style steak and the local specialty Francesinha. The steak was perfectly cooked to our preference, tender, succulent and full of rich, savory flavors. It was clear that it was prepared using high-quality, fresh ingredients and that the chefs took their time to ensure that each element was perfect.

Then came the Francesinha. This traditional Portuguese sandwich, typically composed of bread, wet-cured ham, linguiça, fresh sausage like chipolata, steak or roast meat, and covered with molten cheese and a hot thick tomato and beer sauce, was out of this world. The balance of flavors was perfect and the generous portion left us full and contented.

From the ambiance to the food, Barris do Douro is a culinary paradise nestled in the heart of Porto. It's a haven for foodies and a place where you can taste the passion and dedication of the team behind each dish. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Porto. Whether you're a fan of local cuisine or just want to enjoy an outstanding meal, Barris do Douro should be at the top...

My wife and I went there today Saturday 9-25 around 1pm. They just seated the last small table. We politely asked for table for 2. The waiter was so rude. His attitude was not at all like everyone else we had met and experienced in Porto. He rudely said strong no! And signaled get out, like dismissal with a kicking out attitude. We were a little shocked to be honest. A simple, we are full or it will be at least 30-45 minutes would have been reasonable. I had worked in restaurants for years while putting myself through college. Just so rude. They might have good to great food, however attitude and service by this 20+ year old male waiter was horrible. I hope his manager sees this. His way was totally out of line. I was encouraged by other Porto locals to complain. Very poor representative for Porto. In fairness neither my wife and I aside from this individual are swayed. There will always be idiots everywhere. He is one of them. Porto has mostly a lot of...
