My wife and I hosted a welcome picnic at Churchill's for our wedding guests this past May, and it was an absolute highlight of the trip. The garden was gorgeous with seats placed around the whole space for guests, and a beautiful bar setup on the patio. The port-tonic and port-ginger cocktails were delicious. Without sounding dramatic, I still think about them often. And the food for the event consisted of perfect little bites that all our guests raved about.
While the food and drink were spectacular, and we got lucky with perfect weather, the real star of the show was the staff. We worked closely with Matheus and Carmen to plan the event, and I cannot speak of them highly enough. They were spectacular. They were always very responsive to emails, which was helpful given the time difference between Porto and New York. And for the event itself, they put in such effort to decorate the space and make the event as perfect as it was. Their attention to detail and attentiveness were so appreciated, and I can't thank them enough. The bartender, Bruno, was incredible as well. The entire staff was lovely, and helpful, and made such a good impression. It's been 2 months since our event there, and I still think about it daily. If you have the opportunity to do a special event in their garden bar, or even just pop in for a visit, I can't...
Read moreI donât know how this place doesnât have much more reviews because my experience was simply I.N.C.R.E.D.I.B.L.E. I didnât have the slightest knowledge about wine before this place and never saw the appeal in it. I am terribly sorry I donât have pictures of this place but if youâre reading this donât even contemplate going there, just do it! They have this cellar with ginormous oak barrels and small ones, incredible choices of wine and we tried the wine tasting which you kind of pay in packages for 3-5 wines per the kind you choose. I think we had the 25 euro and 35 euro one. We went to the other compound they have which wasnât a building, it was like a garden kinda place with a beautiful view of the Porto river. the guy who was serving us was incredibly sweet and took the time to explain each wine like the process of how it was made, what type of grapes used, what type of barrel, how long it fermented, itâs taste and why it tastes like that â€ïž I would 110/10 go again if I could, I never liked wine but that was an incredible experience.    Read moreAn absolute hidden gem in Porto! Churchillâs 1982 Bar feels like nothing youâd expect to find in a bustling city. Instead of crowded terraces or noisy streets, youâre given a picnic blanket and invited to settle into the gardens with an uninterrupted view of the Douro. The atmosphere is serene, almost as if you have the place to yourself. Service is wonderfully discreet â attentive without ever intruding â which makes the whole experience feel even more special. Thereâs also a small but thoughtful selection of food, alongside of course excellent drinks, which makes it easy to linger for hours. A rare and unusual spot in Porto that combines elegance with simplicity. Truly...
