FIKO — Restaurant in Doha

I went to Fiko with my family of 8 for a birthday celebration, to which we all enjoyed very much. Food was great, ambience was great, and we were having a great time. It being a birthday, we didn’t look twice when we received our bill and we just paid. Having kept our bill and checking it once we were home, we were extremely disappointed to find out we were overcharged for MANY things, of which I will clarify:

1. charged for 14 cups of tea when there were only 4 adults on the table?!!!!
2. told we were going to be given boba and marshmallow compliments of the restaurant, only to find out they were put on our bill (we did not request this).
3. being charged for more bottles of water than we consumed. Firstly, we were not asked whether we wanted more water and the waiter kept bringing more bottles of water and opening them. Worst of all, opening up a new bottle of water right as we were finishing up so that we got charged for it. Adding an extra bottle of sparkling water to the bill. Actions i do NOT tolerate and was noticing as we were sitting at the table that waiter was trying to take advantage.
4. as I mentioned, we were 8 people and ordered one plate of vine leaves. The waiter brought 3 and we very clearly said to him “we only ordered one” to which he said, “yes I know, I split the portion into three plates”. To find out we were charged 240 riyals for a plate of appetizers we did not order - again, completely appalling and disappointing.

On a bill that we paid a crazy 4500 riyals for (of which we are owed somewhere near 1000 riyals), I am so extremely disappointed at how this restaurant has taken advantage of us being a big family and seen us celebrating. I would love for someone from management to contact me as a matter of urgency because this is completely and entirely unacceptable for a newly opened restaurant to treat its customers in such a way....

A new Turkish restaurant that is definitely worth the hype! Just opened up in Msheireb a few weeks ago and has been crowded with people wanting to try it, and it's obvious when you try their food.

First off, such a beautiful interior with the warm colors and sitting areas. They start you off with a tray of mini mezzes so you can choose what you want full sized. We tried a bunch of them and honestly liked them all. My favorites were the carrot tatator (carrot, garlic, yogurt and olive oil), stuffed chard (charred leaves stuffed with minced meat, topped with creamy sauce), and atom (yogurt with chilli and olive oil). And of course a must try is the gavurdag salad, classic Turkish salad with cucumber, tomato, peppers, walnut and pomegranates.

For the main courses, the absolute best dish was the Fiko Kebab. Literally melt in your mouth Adana kebab that is wrapped with a thin layer of bread topped with onion and pepper. My second favorite was the Fiko Roll, which is the same incrediblely soft Adana Kebab wrapped in bread topped with a delicious tomato butter sauce. Then we also tried the Shashlik, marinated slices of beef tenderloin and onion, very tender and flavorful. Also tried both the Ali Nazik Chicken and Ali Nazik Meat, which is a plate of yogurt topped with mashed eggplant topped with chicken or meat. And finally also tried their lahmacun (thinly baked pita bread topped minced meat and a mix of tomato/peppers).
