Private Hell — Restaurant in Bucharest

I figured I'd write a review now that I have been to Private Hell twice.

Their selection of beer is wide but good. You can tell that the beers that were picked were done so carefully, as there is something for seemingly everyone. Their drinks and spirits also contain the things we know and love, but with a few twists and turns here for those who want to try something new.

The music profile is what you would expect from a rock/metal bar. Heavier music, loud and bold, is something I personally enjoy very much. I know that this isn't for everyone, but that's all about personal preference.

Prices. The price for a beer or drink isn't something that'll break your bank. It is cheap, and I do mean CHEAP.

The staff that I have met so far have all been friendly and nice; they all spoke English with me and were willing even to help me pick out something to drink when I started getting a little overwhelmed with the selection. The only thing that disappoints me is the lack of t-shirts, patches, .etc, but that's not something one should judge an establishment under.

Loved the name of the bar and I do have an appreciation for metal. But the bartender was not welcoming and kind put off by me. He was really nice to the 3 guys wearing the black leather jackets with zippers. Maybe I should have worn the right jacket. Nevertheless - only bottled beers here. Nothing on tap. It’s a hole in the wall kind of place but what would you expect from a place called private hell, right? Not sure if it was meant to be poetic or not. Yes my pilsener was 12 lei so affordable but, again it’s a bottle. There are a couple of 2nd level platforms (see pic from one of them). The bathroom had no paper towels. I can see why others might find this place charming. But I don’t think it’s for everyone. And I think they are...

I felt fine ordering a couple beers at the bar and seating myself at a table. Good selection of beers and the pricing is the best in town. Since you go to the bar yourself they don't have the overhead. Ok, somebody might be bothered that there was a coffee cup left at my table and it might have been there for a while.

Music is pretty loud and yes it's metal. Some interesting characters here, but everyone seems friendly enough. The space is pretty small and it could be hard to get to the bar if it were really busy.

I'd say check it out and have a couple beers you can't...
