As a hospitality worker : I couldn't tell you why the reviews for this place are so consistently high; but unless you are looking for one or two cocktails it's not worth going to at all. Staff bear no social skills and don't give an ounce about their job or self image; no self respect
Heaps of waiters and waitresses but they look terrified about giving any more service to tables. It wasn't even half full and they were running about madly. They all looked very young without any one as a clear manager keeping them in check. When they did take and present orders there were mistakes with every step. When there was something they didn't quite understand they would ignore off the order - something I've seen time again from co-workers unwilling to work out a language barrier.
I could see them enjoying drinks themselves behind the bar, out of view too - which would probably account for I think 3 orders to be dropped 2 metres away from me. What a mess.
The food was shameful too. Just piles of either tasteless, or stupidly over-seasoned (the customary drenching of truffle oil) or blatantly frozen (at least they advertise that in the menu, you wouldn't see that level of honesty on kitchen nightmares). And it's just too expensive for that. Don't trust the photographs - the food has since gone down hill from that.
The only thing this place has is an up to date decor and good situation next to a monument. That's it. Don't go...
Read moreGood food although a bit expensive for what they offer. A nice selection of drink too. The service is decent, although it could be improved. They look understaffed to be honest, the waiters are always running around, always in a hurry, can't even thank them as they run to the next table. Not their fault though, they should hire some more, or move some of the staff from the club now that it's closed.
As for the design, well it's horribly overbranded with Grolsch. And to make things even worse, it's not even a functional design. The benches which are made from beer bottles are extremely uncomfortable, the overall green motif becomes tiring after the first hour and to be honest, I find that designing everything out of beer bottles and caps to be very lame. We get it, they are your main sponsor/partner, but don't put it in our faces, it's unlikely we'll drink any of their products.
Won't mention anything about the cigarette smoke as it's going to be banned, but I had to scrub really hard in the past to get...
Read moreEnergiea was one of my favorite places in the past. So this Saturday, with my girlfriends, we decided to enjoy what we remembered to be a great place despite their weird rule of not making reservations without a fidelity card (...?...). So we went there, we've found a table which seemed to be free although it had a reservation sign on it (....maybe keeping all tables reserved so that they can choose their clients .... I don't know...). All was good until we went outside for my friends to smoke, after we announced the staff that we will be outside. When we came back we were amazed to see that everything on our table disappeared. We've asked for the remaining wine & water and, believe it or not, they took it from trash and put it on the table saying that we can continue to drink it. We received no empathy from their side but we paid everything in the end despite the attitude, the tone and the fact they left us without part of our order. Not planning to come back there...
