I recently stayed at the Novotel Bucharest City Centre, and overall it was a memorable experience with a mix of strengths and some areas that could be improved.
Location & History The hotel’s location is one of its strongest advantages. It is situated right in the heart of Bucharest, making it very convenient for exploring the city’s main attractions, restaurants, and shopping areas. What I particularly appreciated was the architectural decision to preserve the old façade from World War II. This detail gives the hotel a unique charm and serves as a reminder of the city’s resilience and history. Walking through the entrance feels special because you’re literally stepping through a piece of heritage into a modern space.
Staff & Service The staff at the hotel were consistently friendly, welcoming, and professional. From check-in to check-out, they made the process smooth and pleasant. They were attentive when approached with questions or requests and always maintained a positive attitude. This level of hospitality is definitely one of the highlights of the stay.
Room Comfort The room itself was clean and comfortable, offering everything you’d expect from a Novotel property. The bed was cozy, and overall the space provided a restful environment after long days of exploring the city. The main challenge, however, was the bathroom design. The toilet is located in a separate area from the main bathroom, which can be inconvenient, especially for guests who prefer a more integrated layout. While it’s not a dealbreaker, it’s something worth noting for travelers who value convenience.
Food & Beverages One area that fell short of expectations was the food and coffee. Both were unfortunately below average compared to what one might expect from a hotel of this category. The breakfast options were somewhat limited in quality and variety, and the coffee didn’t live up to the otherwise high standards of the property. While this didn’t overshadow the entire experience, it’s an aspect where the hotel could make significant improvements.
Overall Experience In terms of the stay itself, everything else was very good. The location, staff, and the historical façade make this hotel stand out in the city. The comfort of the rooms also ensures you can relax and recharge during your visit to Bucharest. While the food and beverage offerings need some improvement, and the bathroom layout could be reconsidered, these factors didn’t outweigh the positives of the stay.
Final Thoughts The Novotel Bucharest City Centre is a great choice for travelers who value location, history, and friendly service. The preservation of the World War II-era front façade is a special touch that sets it apart from other hotels and connects visitors with the city’s past while enjoying modern comforts. With some adjustments in the dining experience and bathroom design, this hotel has the potential to be not just a convenient option but a truly...

Read moreI got a room at the 12th floor, the “executive floor” where there was a loud banging noise coming from an unknown area, like something metalic was hitting a pole. |- Went downstairs to change rooms but of course the hotel is “fully booked”. The usual blatant lie. This is the excuse used by the worst hotels. I don’t think they were even half occuppied. So you’re telling me all 12 floors were occuppied but in the morning the average size breakfast area was not even close to full? |- But the maintenance personnel “was called” in my room to inquire about the noise. Guess what?! Nobody ever showed up.||- The room was crazy cold when I got in. It took 3 hours to reach an barely acceptable temperature. ||- The towels from day 1 smelled dusty. Clearly they were washed long time ago and kept in a warehouse or the room was unused for a long time. ||- You have a minuscule desk in the room which is occuppied by a million annoying items. I had to put most of them on the floor. ||- Only one side of the bed has a power outlet. But both sides have usb A ports. We didn’t have a single usb A cable. Who uses usb A anymore? EU is not even allowing non usb C items to be sold. ||- And don’t get me started with the TV. Just avoid it. You press a button now and by the time you do the checkout the channel changes. ||- If you park your car at the hotel, each and every time you wish to get out you have to pass by the lobby and give them your parking ticket. ||- The elevators sound like they’re from Final Destination. At the 12th floor you can always hear loud banging noises. It’s like the factory there with all the noise coming from everywhere in the hallway. There are 3 elevators but you still wait a few minutes for one.||- The -3 elevator area has a heavy toilet smell. |- Out of 3 elevators only 1 goes to the parking area. Of course most of the time you have to go to the lobby and then switch :)||+ The hotel was clean overall. |+ The “executive” floors have free minibar although the selection is average. ||Conclusion: overrated expensive trap in the city center.
