I stayed at Hotel Capitol for almost 2 weeks. I was traveling for business. My guess is that the building was renovated not so long ago. It's quite clean though I found a paper clip on the floor of my room and it remained there for my entire stay - meaning nobody vacuumed there or wasn't really thorough. Also the toiled smelled a little sometimes, not always though (or maybe I got used to it). I was not a big fan of the breakfasts either. The bread was okay but not the freshest, the toast bread was dry and hard. Not much of a choice regarding what to put on that bread too. When you enter the restaurant to grab the breakfast there is no one standing by the door usually. Sooner or later one of the waiters would come up to you and ask you for your room number. Sometimes they looked displeased, sometimes scared and once I encountered a nervous lady who didn't understand the room number in English. I had to point the number on the page for her. That being said I am quite happy with my stay. The room smelled sweet and nice every time I entered. I appreciate that during the weekend the cleaning lady saw me leaving for breakfast in the morning and cleaned my room before I came back. The reception staff was the nicest and very helpful (with one exception when I was told that nothing can be done about my request, later on I asked a different person and there was no issue with doing what I asked for). I would like to say extra thank you to Georgia, receptionist who was the...
Read moreEnjoy a Romanian lunch buffet for 49 lei, from Monday to Friday, between 12 pm and 3 pm, with a wide range of dishes, from salads and meat dishes to soups and desserts, served in the elegant atmosphere that only a hotel can offer. The menu changes daily and we were impressed by the hotel restaurant's willingness to let guests try a variety of Romanian dishes. I was also impressed by the way they serve a French-origin Colton Blue in a special corner, and by the live electronic piano music, so as not to bore anyone other than first-time guests. Drinks are extra. There is no seat charge required, 49 lei + drinks is the total price. My only one regret was that I operated my own espresso machine in the restaurant, which was next to the all-you-can-eat bread section, and unknowingly served myself a cappuccino. Although it was of course my own fault, I would have seen a notice on the machine to avoid any unnecessary trouble. We thought that foreign tourists would be the main visitors to the restaurant, but surprisingly we saw many locals, mainly elderly people. The tables in the restaurant are for four or more people, so although there is some sharing of seats when the restaurant is crowded, the turnover rate of customers in the restaurant was high and they were leaving...
Read moreWe had a terrible experience with the reception staff right on our arrival and before our departure. There was a young employee that did not treat us nicely when we were checking in. First, he told us that he did not have two double rooms for the four of us (even if we had two double rooms booked). Secondly, he did not want to give to keys for a double room, and eventually the keys would not open the rooms on the day of the departure anymore. He set them to work just until the last evening.
The check-out morning I forgot my tablet in the room. Fortunately, we had to spend half an hour to be picked up and taken to the airport. During that half an hour I realized that I did not have my tablet with me and started checking in my suitcases in front of the reception staff. They said nothing to me about my forgotten tablet until I told them that I had forgotten something and they admitted that they knew I had forgotten a tablet that had been confiscated and turned on by the cleaning lady.
The rooms are small, but the location is close by the historical city Centre. Nonetheless, this bad experience was not worth the...
