Abia acum cand am iesit la pensie, gasesc timp pentru a vizita si admira comorile Bucurestiului. Astazi a venit randul Bisericii Zlatari....situata pe Cslea Victoriei intre str. Stavropoleos si Lipscani. La inceput, a fost construita probabil din lemn, in curtea unui han, de catre niste zlatari (aurari sau argintari) in timpul domniei lui Matei Basarab dupa planurile arh.Xavier Villacrosse. Biserica gazduieste mana dreapta a Sfantului Ciprian.

The Zlătari Church, located in the heart of Bucharest, is a true gem of Romanian architecture and culture. This Orthodox church, built in the 19th century, is known for its unique combination of styles, including neoclassicism and baroque, making it extremely appealing to visitors.

The interior of the church is richly decorated with frescoes and icons depicting important scenes from Christian tradition. Each image tells its own story, and visitors can feel a deep spirituality as they explore every part of this sacred space. The scent of incense and the sounds of quiet prayer contribute to an atmosphere that invites meditation and inner peace.

The surroundings of the church are also very pleasant, with a small courtyard that provides a refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city. Many visitors enjoy a moment of silence here, where they can reflect on their daily lives and appreciate the beauty of this place.

The church staff is friendly and ready to assist visitors, further enriching the experience. In conclusion, the Zlătari Church is an unmissable destination for anyone looking to explore the spiritual and cultural heritage of Bucharest. Its beauty and tranquility leave a lasting impression that is remembered for...

The church is dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary.

The first church on this site was built in the mid-17th century, probably in wood, and is mentioned in a document from 1667; a stone church was built in 1635 by Matei Basarab, Duke of Wallachia, and rebuilt in 1705 by the spathar (noble) Mihai Cantacuzino. Damaged by earthquakes in 1802 and 1838, the church and the nearby Zlătari inn were restored according to the plans of the architect Xavier Villacrosse. The church was also decorated by the painter Gheorghe Tattarescu; the inn was demolished in 1903 and restored by Jean Pompilian and Gr. Cerkez in 1907-1908. It was restored in 1973. Further restorations were carried out after the earthquake of 1977. It is said that the remains of Saint Ciprian (specifically his right hand), who is said to be a miracle-worker, are housed in front of the altar in the church.

However, perhaps due to its location in a tourist area, it was a little worrying to see some visitors behaving variously...
