We stayed at the Grand Hotel Belvedere and overall had a positive experience, though there are several areas where improvement is needed.||Let’s start with the gym, which was truly exceptional—the largest and most well-equipped hotel gym I’ve ever encountered. Some machines were so advanced I had never seen them before, which made for a great workout. However, it lacks basic amenities: there were no towels, no water station, and the gym opens only at 8:00 AM, which is quite late for guests wanting an early session. These small changes would significantly enhance the experience.||The pool area is also visually impressive, but there is poor air circulation. It can feel quite stuffy and difficult to breathe, which takes away from what should be a relaxing environment. Adding ventilation or simply cracking open a window would help a lot.||Accessibility could be better. The main entrance, which is beautifully designed, has no elevator, making it difficult for elderly guests like my parents. There is an alternate entrance at the back near the parking lot, but it feels like a service entrance, and there’s no signage to indicate it leads to reception. This could easily be solved by adding clear signs and improving the welcome experience for guests arriving by car.||Our room was spacious and very comfortable, with an amazing panoramic view of Brașov. That alone was a highlight of the stay. The breakfast offered a good variety and tasty options, though as a vegan, my choices were limited to mostly fruits and vegetables.||Dining was a mixed experience. The restaurant is actually located in the adjacent older Belvedere Hotel. My parents dined there and were very pleased with the food. However, the room service from the night before was disappointing. The food was underwhelming.||In summary, while there may be more polished hotels in Brașov, the combination of a fantastic gym, beautiful views, a nice pool, and spacious rooms made this stay worthwhile for us. With a few adjustments—especially to accessibility and service—it could truly live up to...
Read moreSummer review of “Grand Hotel Belvedere” from family of four. This is a hotel with nice rooms, that’s it. Service is soo bad, especially from the male receptionists. They don’t want to help, don’t want you there and do everything in their power to make you feel unwelcome. Spa (indoor) feels like a prison (only windows for 1/5 of the area), nothing works. The outdoor pool is at a different and bit older hotel, nice but not on the premise of the Grand Hotel (have to cross an event hall and a road). The one thing that saves this hotel is the amazing restaurant (also in the older hotel), fantastic food and service.
Reviewed after comment from hotel: I wanted to give a general feedback with not to many details, but with a rude response, I’ll bring all details forward to help improve:
Reception/arrival: I don’t have many expectations, but a polite approach, friendly attitude and helpful behavior is three key part of the first experience, our welcoming failed on all three approaches (talk to your employee for details).
Spa: there is 5 sun beds with view out, and 20isj sun beds with a 5 meter view towards a stone wall (but they have glass wall/windows behind so everyone going to gym can watch you like you are on a exhibition or in a aquarium. The water Massasje in pool can’t be turned on and the shower are too low for anyone over 187cm. Could not find any towels so we had ti bring from our room.
Breakfast: we had three breakfasts and it seems that they always ran out of quite a few items even 1-1,5 hour before end of breakfast, some items like cheese and ham were old and soggy and bread rolls were mostly hard as concrete.
Room/room cleaning: from our 3 nights, ore beds were made once, towels never changed (even if they were on the floor, in the room in bathroom over the tub, we tried all possibilities no cleaning), toilet didn’t get cleaned and toilet paper were just left next to the toilet not put in to its place. The TV had reception on all channels anno 1980’s...
Read moreI really disliked this hotel. I been to many 4+ stars hotels and honestly this is more like a 2 star hotel.. The room is actually pretty nice but the cleaning service is poor and things that shouldn't have went wrong did. Simple things such as the room didn't open in two separate occasions due to the card that they fix 3 times and the CC machine in the restaurant. *WARNING they are no ATMs on site. I did eat in the restaurant upstairs and the food was great but the credit card machine gave them issues , which took them 20 mins to sort out and finally we went downstairs to pay. What an inconvience!!! By the way the receptionists are pretty helpful but that alone didn't help make me feel comfortable. One more thing Since This hotel is pretty far from everything, the taxi drivers think your rich and try to over charge you but I wouldn't pay more than 25 lei from the Gara which it shouldn't have cost no more than 14 lei. Save your money and go to another hotel in old town.. I was very...
