I was planning on visiting this Bistro for quite some time, but when I finally did, it did not dissapoint. They have a small terrace with a few tables that are not very big -so if you're planning on ordering several dishes at once, they may not fit all on one table. Inside is a nice and cosy design, with original art pieces displayed available to buy, pretty functional layout ,clean bathroom, open view to the kitchen. We visited on one of the hottest days in August, so we chose to sit inside, to run away from the scorching sun. Well, it wasn't very chill inside either, I don't know if they didn't have air conditioning or maybe they did, but it couldn't handle all the heat. All in all, it was manageable and pretty comfortable once you got adjusted. The only thing clouding the experience was the noise made by employees sorting out the cutlery...for a full 15-20 minutes. That was a bit more anoying than the heat 🙈. I can't remember if there was music, but if it was, the roumour that came from the kitchen/employees/or other clients was covering it. Moving pass the ambiental overview that may not be their forte or maybe it was just a bad timing, everything else was IMPRESSING. The dishes sound simple and traditional, but they have a twist that elevates them from the usual traditional dishes one might expect. Everything tasted like a trip back to childhood or, if you're not from around, it tasted like a mom made meal. They use local bio products, so its all seasonal and hand picked and even the tomatoes were tasty, sweet and savory. They have one menu that I think might be available all year round (with several dishes of pasta, burgers, soups and main courses) and another temporary one , which might be daily, weekly or seasonal, I can't remember. Either way, I would love to stay in Brasov for at least one month to go try every day a new dish. And then come back again the next season. And repeat. Every dish I tried was different from the one before and yet everything felt and tasted homemade, although they took the receipes to another level. From the one who conceives the menu, to the ones who prepare it - I'm your fan. For life 🤘🏻 When you pass through Brasov, please give this place a chance. There's more to romanian culture than Dracula and fantasy stories, there's a clash of cultures and hystorical crossroads in this country that you can taste just by taking one step asside of touristy innuendos. Don't go cramming into obvious flashy "traditional" restaurants - you might be pleased by the food (because, let's face it, romanian food is amaizing), but you'll miss the chance to taste the soul food, The food that tells you the real story about romanian transylvanian roots, about its people and its history elegantly carried out into contemporaneity. I can't wait...
Read moreOn Sunday, April 7, 2024 , around 5 o'clock in the afternoon, we sat down at a table for 4 people, which was composed of two tables of two people each. Then after 10 minutes a waiter came to argue with us that we cannot sit at that table because it is for 4 people and we are 2 people, there was another free table for 4 people on the terrace which was also composed of two tables stuck together. The waiter spoke to us in a very nasty and indifferent tone, he recommended us to make a reservation another time not to come, but the table we sat at was not reserved, not even the free one next to us. He repeated to us 3 times that we cannot sit two people at a table of 4, but the table consisted of 2 tables for two people :)))... so we were practically kicked out of the terrace by this rude waiter and without the desire to satisfies the need of the customer .We thought would have a quiet and civilized meal at this Bistro de’l Arte but we resigned ourselves, got up from the table and went to another restaurant where we were welcomed as it should be. The impression that this uncivilized and rude waiter left us about this small restaurant is one of the kind that the food is good for nothing if the hospitality is bad and the customer's needs are trampled on. For nothing, so much involvement from the chefs if the waiters drive the customers off the terrace and have an arrogant and callous attitude without customers. I will never return to Bistro de l'Arte and I will never recommend this small pub with the trappings of a Michelin-starred restaurant. You sell customers a good image, but in reality we miss the little details that we, the customers who pay for the services and products sold by you, we are left with a bitter taste and very disappointed by the fact that you do not know how to be perfect down to the smallest detail, that only the prices are high but the services are very...
Read moreOn the occasion of my mother's birthday, we chose this restaurant, trusting its reputation to provide a memorable and pleasant experience. Unfortunately, we were met with nothing but disappointment and disrespect. From the moment we stepped inside, the person who greeted us—later identified as the owner—treated us with outright disdain. Instead of a warm welcome, we were met with an annoyed expression and a cutting question: "Do you even have a reservation?!" accompanied by a dismissive eye-roll. This was especially shocking, given that we had made the reservation more than a week in advance. The troubles only escalated from there. The table we were shown to was painfully inadequate, barely capable of seating five people, let alone the six in our party. When we politely asked a waiter if they could either rearrange the seating or move us to a more suitable table, the owner interjected. Her tone was visibly irritated, and he brusquely remarked, "I always have these discussions with customers; don’t get me started!" His raised voice and hostile attitude made an already uncomfortable situation unbearable.
It was heartbreaking to see my mother, the one whose special day we were supposed to be celebrating, feel unwelcome and upset. She quickly decided that this was not the kind of environment she wanted to spend her birthday in, and we had no choice but to leave.
The entire experience was profoundly disappointing and deeply disheartening. This restaurant, which we had approached with high expectations, not only ruined what should have been a joyful occasion but also left us with a bitter memory. Needless to say, I will never return, nor will I recommend it to anyone...
