UMUT Cafe & Restaurant — Restaurant in Kigali City

Outdoor seating is great and the kebab I had was delish (the meat was soft and perfectly cooked with spices. This is an heaven send after eating the battle tested Rwandan style beef) !!! Note that I did not get the rice and chips, but instead got a plate of green beans. They forgot to give me the salad as well. I only realized this after I left there.

The turkish dessert (vanilla ice cream topped off with cooked semolina and butter) was mostly good (it should have been sweeter and the ice cream SHOULD NOT PIECES OF ICE. Any ice cream with actual pieces of ice is of mediocre quality because they add water to increase volume and to make money). Strawberries must be in short supply because they put just ONE sad looking, tiny strawberry on top (I would have been happier with a dollop of strawberry jam, FROM A BOTTLE!!)🤨

The mango smoothie was great, without any ice blended in it. I spent about 2 minutes explaining to the wait staff that I want the smoothie without the ice. I just want the ice cream and the mango 🙄).

I have to go back there to try the other delicious...

So many good things to say about this lovely restaurant. For starters, they have delicious food, friendly staff providing excellent service and reasonably priced Menu. Let me highlight some of the dishes I loved : ☆ Breakfast plate : I tried their Turkish breakfast plate on a Sunday morning which had fried eggs, fried baby potatoes, fruit cuts, veggies, cheese , pancakes, olives, butter, jam, nutella and Turkish tea included for just 4500 RWF. Highly recommend this👍 ☆ Chicken Pizza : Honestly they serve pizza ,the fastest in Kigali. I actually timed the order the second time and the third time and always pizza is on the table in less than 10 mins (7 to be exact). On top of it, they are so delicious ! ☆Iftar Special : They blew our mind by the smorgasbord of Turkish dishes they laid on our table. Mushroom soup, salads, nuts, pita breads, Turkish pizzas, mixed kebabs, flavoured rice, chips, juice, water and fruits. Very bad restaurant & horrible service. Half of the menu is not available (incl. almost all turkish dishes). At the end, they only serve pizza, burger & chicken wings. When you ask for details on the pizza’s ingredients, (for instance, what vegetables the ‘vegetable’ pizza has) the server doesn’t know and it takes him 10-15 min to find out but he can only explain the ingredients in Turkish or Kinyarwanda (?!) so, no help at all. We order the only turkish dish available (kebab) and a simple fizza (funghi). The 1st part of the kebab dish came almost 30 min after we order, the 2nd part of the kebab dish (a simple salad) came -not-well cut- 20 min after and finally the pizza arrived 20-25 min later. Most tables were empty so there was no reason for that incredible delay. The food wasn’t good (cheesy greasy fast food style) and the service was just horrible. Definitely not...
