A traditional café in the Palilulla area. There's an extensive selection of national Serbian cuisine. However, I would like to comment on a few things: Why is there so much salt in the goulash? Why are the onions for the meat not even sprinkled with lemon or scalded with boiling water?
Beef soup can be eaten, and with a very tasty flatbread, it becomes delicious. The goulash is very rich, and dense in texture, with lots of pepper and meat, more like paprikash with an incredible amount of salt. Meshano meso dish is great, but to me, it lacks a side dish or vegetables for the fullness of flavor. The meat is fried to the level of super well done. By the way, there is also no Lav beer here although it brands all the surfaces. This cafe is designed to satisfy your hunger quickly and without elegance in the meal. Traditional, big portion and very lovely staff. Not worth going here on purpose.

Read moreRegarding food, nothing special in this restaurant, similar choice and quality of dishes to many typical restaurants with Serbian kitchen. Concerning servicing - personnel when see you're not local become not friendly, and serving like giving you a favor for your money. I find it unacceptable. When I asked for the bill in the end, nothing happened during the next 30 minutes. And I had to proceed to the main desk by myself further for payment. When I said thank you (Khvala), officiant doesn't even react and behaves like furniture. Looks like officiants don't like their job in this restaurant. Looks like the credo of this Old Herzegovina restaurant is to serve only locals., definitely this place is not the best choice for regular visits. I'd even recommend avoiding it and finding a better option for...
Read moreStara Hercegovina (Old Herzegovina) is a rare example of a true, traditional and authentic Serbian restaurant. Moreover, the space inside is quite vast and roomy, and even during the rush-hour guests should not have a terribly difficult time finding an empty table. The style of the interior is very beautiful, as it was not changed since it was first opened, beginning, early 1900s. Furthermore its traditional style never fails to dazzle new visitors. More importantly the traditional food served there is outstanding, the list of specialties served there is endless and prices are very good. Stara Hercegovina is a local restaurant, thus it is not overflowing with tourists, which is great if you want to experience real Serbian culture...
