This place is awesome. It's the New Serbian. It's located in one of the prettiest green markets in town, in Zemun, not far from Danube. This place should ideally come after a walk by the river. It's a good date place, too! It's the street food concept: you will be sitting outside, and no restroom is available. But the table is covered with nice white sheets, and decorated with flowers.
The menu is small, but good. The food has kept the traditional Serbian style and flavors, but it's upgraded with interesting vegetable garnishes, excellent sauces, and pastries that come along. Everything was super tasty, and very rich. We had lamb, and roasted meet with spinach. That was all excellent, but OMG THE BREAD, it blew my mind - don't miss out! Dessert was not as good as the rest of the food. For the beverages, they offer some nice wine, but also Valjevsko and Jagodinsko, the rear Serbian beers which suck, but we love them, and you should have them. There is a vegetarian option on the menu, but I wouldn't say the place attracts many vegetarians.
Prices were higher then you would expect at the street food place, but really fair compared to the quality of food and service. Our dinner for two, with one drink each, and one dessert came out to less then $40.
Because they have only 7-8 tables, you should make a reservation if you are coming for dinner on a weekend night. It's pet friendly. The service is really perfect, the staff is super friendly, making you feel like you are welcome, and (a rare sight) - encouraging you to sit as long as you want. The two guys that work the kitchen seem to be living their best lives, and you can taste that in their food.
All in all - awesome food, great concept, a great group of people running the show: maximum...
