I never leave negative reviews, but as the experience was such a letdown on all levels and the establishment is held in such high regard, I feel compelled to provide honest feedback.
Overpriced, overhyped, and absolutely undeserving of its reputation. It came highly recommended, but ended up being a below-average experience, suprisingly bad in certain aspects.
Out of the three waiters who came and went, only one showed any interest in making an eye contact and not rushing us, and we were happy to tip him well as he was the only bright spot in the entire experience.
The salads were stale and came with lemon pits inside. The tomato salad was just one plain tomato, cut up. No oil, no vinegar, no onion, no garlic, no herbs, no nothing. I have never seen anything like it. Just one large tomato, but it comes at such an insanely high price point that you would think Meryl Streep had grown it herself.
You would do much better by eating an average pljeskavica for less than that cost and have an entire decent meal elsewhere on any street corner for the price of one measly tomato here.
Again, all of it wouldn't be such a problem if the prices reflected the depressing state of those vegetables and meat.
The barbecue meat was burnt and charred with a tiny piece of bone in it.
Other meat was underwhelming to say the least with steak being overdone, which is incomprehensible for a restaurant with a name like "Hunter" that prides itself on meat dishes.
Overall, when stacked against other places of similar reputation in Belgrade, this restaurant can only compare in how pricey they are. The service, food, and atmosphere were all subpar.
Do yourself a favor and go to other restaurants where the staff cares and someone is actually putting an effort into preparing your food and treating you like their guest instead of piece...
Read moreFor context, I've been eating here regularly for at least 20 years, through all the changes in menu and management, and have witnessed a steady decline on all fronts, but my latest lunch experience compels me to issue some serious (and probably final) criticism.
The salad portions have dwindled to almost nothing - you used to be able to share between two, now it's not even enough for one. The grilled dish was seriously over salted. But the worst is that it used to come with a (well-sized) side of fries. It no longer does (the waiter laughed in my face when I asked why it had changed). You now have to order a giant side of fries (it's way too big), and mine were left in the deep frier so long that they could no longer be picked up with a fork - they just shatter.
Oh, and the prices keep going up as well. Absolutely forget the hard-earned reputation this place once had - management has well and truly destroyed this, and made it into a place that deserves to go extinct.
Edit: had a word with the manager afterwards, and he did seem receptive to...
Read morePretty sure I got food poisoning from the kaymak here, because I never had digestive issues during my week in Belgrade except for the morning after dinner here, and the following morning after eating my leftover kaymak. It wasn’t norovirus or anything, but my gut was definitely disturbed.
The bread we were served was hard, not fresh, although the rest of the food was pretty good.
Our waiter was at best oblivious, at worst purposefully avoiding our table, as my wine glass stayed empty for most of dinner with no inquiry if I wanted more. Everyone was also out of water about 2/3 of the way through our meal, and we were never offered refills. Then the waiter had the nerve to point out that “service was not included” in the bill when he dropped it off. 😂 We had to laugh at that because we agreed, service did not seem to be included.
2 stars for the ambiance and general palatable nature of what we ordered. Traditional Serbian vibe, pretty green...
