Great food, we had the mixed BBQ and it was fresh and very tasty. Bread sticks and salad were also very good. The ambiance with table side music is excellent, my 93 year old grandmother had an amazing time signing along to the classics! Our waiter was excellent also and suggested the perfect options for food and drinks. He was very attentive. The only issue and why I only give 4 stars is the host at the front. He tried to screw us by saying we did not have a reservation for 9 outside even though my mom called in the morning and they took the reservation plus there were big enough tables free outside when we arrived. Because my Serbian is rusty I guess they thought we were tourists and made us sit inside...that is until my mom came and proved she did call that morning and called them out on their shady practice (check other reviews that mention the same issue) then they finally moved us to one of the outside tables. Normally I wouldn't even mention this but they did the same thing to another patron (for 8 people) while I was standing outside waiting for her to come. Very much like the Seinfeld episode where they take the reservation but can't hold the reservation. Other than that it was overall a great evening so just be prepared to stand up for yourself if you made a reservation and want to sit outside.

Service was excellent, our waiter was amazing. We waited like 20-25 mins for the food which was very delicious. Portions are big. Bit expensive. In the garden is quite packed. Tables are very close to each other. There are two ‘bands’ at the two sides of the garden. They go around each table and play but every song sounds the same, like each person knows his tunes and just play it :D and they stopped around 23:00. They were kinda rushing us to leave as they took our food away when we stopped eating (from experience these types of pubs take your food away once you ask for the bill, not before that, cause you know balkan people like to stay on the table drinking and talking) and maybe book a table in advance.

Atmosphere was good but food only okay and service was bad. Probably became too popular and overrated. The good: * nice location in Skadarlija * atmosphere was good with local live music * good selection of local Serbian foods The bad: * the service was horrible, maybe because I came alone (Two of the waiters barely talked and were rude when asked to remove the additional settings, to light the candle and even refused to remove the ash tray. One of the waiters was more polite.). * the foods looked good but were disappointing. I ordered the slow cooked lamb which probably was initially properly prepared using a good traditional recipe, but was served reheated lukewarm causing many parts of the lamb to be dry and tasteless. Parts near the skin with more fat and which absorbed more of the cooking juices were actually quite tasty. Hopefully, the dishes which I did not order fared better. All in all, it probably was once a very good local restaurant but now has become overly popular and industrialized. It can still be enjoyable, especially for large groups, as long as your expectations meet their current style and offering.

You know that every city has a super popular but not worthy restaurant? Ladies and gentlemen, this is THAT place in Belgrade. Very overrated. The food was mediocre. Better bands play in other restaurants in the same street. The receptionist is the grumpiest grandpa I have ever seen in a restaurant. He's like "Oh crap, here's another tourist 😒🥱". Always crowded and overpriced compared to other places. If you want to pay with cash and credit card, you can't. Either cash or credit card. The waitress who took the payment did not even understand that I wanted to pay 1000 RSD in cash and the rest by card. This is the most tourist trap place in Belgrade. And no, you are not missing anything by not going there. They try to promote the place by saying that Juan Carlos, the King of Spain, visited the place many, many years ago. I am quite sure that he would not visit the current version of this place. All in all, it's not worth the trouble or the money. 👎

This place was recommended to me as a must visit while in Belgrade. The place is an authentic Serbian restaurant that was open back in the middle of the 19th century in the very same building. But there is more just national Serbian cuisine. There are also a number of small folk bands that are strolling among the tables and play and sing national Serbian folk songs. Surprisingly, many locals know these songs by heart, so you can end up having your meal in the middle of the improvised concert. But my biggest problem with this place was smoking. You have to understand that it is sort of local custom that everyone smokes, and I mean literally everyone. Since outside seating was full, we ended up indor, and I was suffocating with cigarette smoke. So please take this to an account and try to get yourself seated outside.

I have been to this historical restaurant during my business trip to Belgrade last week end . The location is really good and close to the centre of the city. I was in the restaurant in the weekend, so it was full of people. There are some different musician groups preforming permanently in different rooms. A few of them are good but the rest is not really good. Also they play the music without stopping which disturbs you after some time during the dinner. The food is not great but well enough to eat. We have eaten the red meat, it was delicious but the chicken was not good actually. We had a Serbian red wine, it was really good. The prices are relatively expensive but this historical place deserves a visit when you are in Belgrade..
