I am extremely disappointed with Hotel Arhiv Boutique House in Novi Sad. I booked a room here back in May 2025 through Booking.com, received full confirmation for both the room and the parking space, and felt assured that everything was in order.
Today, less than one month before my arrival, I received a call from the hotel telling me that my reservation could not be honored because of “a mistake” with Booking. They asked me to cancel my reservation myself, even though it was their responsibility to provide what was confirmed. To make things worse, later the same day, they falsely marked in the Booking.com system that my credit card was invalid — even though the policy was that no charge would be made before my arrival. This is simply untrue and unacceptable.
Everything they have told me (and Booking.com) feels like an excuse and not the truth. Canceling a confirmed reservation 4 months after it was made and just weeks before arrival is unprofessional and shows complete disrespect for customers.
I have been using Booking.com for many years and have never experienced such behavior from a hotel. This situation has caused me stress and serious inconvenience, as finding accommodation for 4 people in the city center at a reasonable price so close to the travel date is nearly impossible.
I would strongly caution anyone considering this property. The way they handled this situation was dishonest, unreliable, and deeply disappointing.
On 13 October 2025 I am attaching screenshots for the reservation...
Read moreArriving from the train station around 11am a lady told me to leave the luggage and come back at 1pm. When there all was locked and nobody around. The place is closed at midday and all night. The room I finally received was quite large and aesthetical, with parquet flooring and carpets. There is a seating area and a writing desk. ||When the manager showed me to the room and saw that I was alone he took away the sheet and pillow of one of the two beds that had been pushed together. It now looked rather annoying. In fact I had booked a comfort triple room. The soap holder in the shower cubicle was completely rusty and there was only a small bottle of shampoo and ne of shower gel. No dispenser, no soap by the washbasin. It was quiet at night, but it had plenty of mosquitoes end of September.||The breakfast was the poorest of my 10-hotels-trip. Although quite busy it had just one small coffee machine with the choice of two different size espressos. The only bread available was toast bread with a small toaster and a bigger queue for it. It had no butter, only margarine. As fruit there were whole apples...
Read moreThe hotel is located very close to the main points of attraction in the central area, and when I say very close, I mean that from the inner courtyard of the hotel you go directly to the pedestrian street, three steps from the cathedral and the Liberty Square. The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished. The staff is friendly, smiling and ready to help you. As a minus is the fact that the reception is not open 24/7, in fact there is no one at the reception, the staff only comes when requested for some accommodation. It also accepts large animals in the rooms, which is not ok, especially for allergic or fearful people. Another minus is the poor breakfast. For example, in no morning did I find cheese at the table, which is basic, and the coffee is made with a filter. Hello, who still uses the filter at the hotel? The best was the yogurt. Not to forget the bed, it's the hardest bed I've ever slept on, it's like sleeping on the floor. Overall, for the price paid, the hotel is ok, especially for the...
