TLDR: Average food, high price, very bad service from one of the front counter/server lady who wears blue uniform.
Never ever expect such a bad service attitude in a restaurant especially when the price is high. Dine in for dinner on 4/4 together with my family members, ordered some dishes and a new item, the lemon bucket drink. Took quite long for the drink to arrive. Afterwards, we experience a leakage of drinks from the bucket. The lady server insisted that the water was just some condensation, not even offering any serviettes or clean up the area when the water was already leaking to the floor. As seen in the picture, the water that leaked out was with colour, it was really obvious that was the drink and not condensation. Once again, I alerted another server, he brought the bucket in to the kitchen and mention to change us another one. However, we see the same exact bucket and his explanation was that they tightened the opening in the kitchen. We thought that was fine until we experience leakage again and it seems worst than the previous time. We let the lady server and ask if she has any solutions as it was quite uncomfortable when the sweet drink was dripping to my feet. She shouted in Chinese "aiya so troublesome, what y'all want?!". My family and I was pretty shocked by the attitude, it wasn't our fault that the bucket was leaking drink and all along we have been asking politely trying to solve the problem. Employees should be trained to resolve issues and not get frustrated with customers, we just wanted a container, could be a jug or anything such that the drink do not continue leaking. This lady did not even bother to say sorry or anything. Never would I have expected such a service attitude since I am paying for my meal and service there. Had feedback to the company but no one get back to me on the situation as well, really disappointed with Tanyu...
Read moreIt was a definitely a delightful experience coming here for lunch. The environment gave me a funky vibe and the ambience was nice even though the restaurant was crowded. I’ve made a reservation via inline app beforehand to secure a table because as I know this place is always pack. The service was splendid as the staff greeted us and guided me and my friends to our table. Since it was our first time here, we’ve no clue on how to order and asked the waitress recommendation. Again, the waitress- Cynthia was friendly throughout the whole explanation/ guidance. She explained in details the type of fish and soup base. In the end, we went with her recommendation to try the newly launched tom yam soup base and ordered some add ons and side dishes. It didn’t take that long for our orders to arrived and we were required to wait 2-5mins for the soup to boil.
To our surprise, the food was really delicious as the fish was fresh and tender. For those who enjoy Thai food, I would totally recommend this soup base. Both just make a great combo, the freshness of the fish with the sour, spicy soup and the add ons vegetables were seeped well with the soup as well.
Overall it was a great experience and again, I would like to give kudos to Cynthia who served us. She was attentive even though they were few tables to tend to. First impression is really important and they definitely made a great one. Can’t wait to come back...
Read moreFood was very good but the long waiting time for a table (an hour and a half on a sat night) and also the serving time for grilled dishes mars the experience. The signature green pepper limbo fish was deceptively mild at first but the numbness gets to you slowly. The fish was tender yet sufficiently firm to not fall apart. A hint of smokey flavour was evident in the skin. Best grilled dishes for me are the chicken wing, eggplant and shrimp. Lamb skewer was so-so. Also get the double taste rice cake (糍粑), crispy melon salad and noodles with onion oil.
2nd review: Ordered takeaway during CB while they were having a 30% discount. Food was packed very well. The fishes came in covered aluminium trays within a cardboard box that had the initials and temperatures of the staff who handled it. An aluminium rack and fuel burner was provided to heat up the fish.
The baby spinach salad with cumin was unique and should appeal to those who like the spice. Tried the chong qing grilled fish which was a special item. It was not overly spicy despite being blanketed in dried chillies. The firm beancurd was the highlight of the dish. One dish best suited for dining in would be the spring rolls as they turned limp by the time they got to the table. But the grilled items were still good despite having cooled down. Definitely worth a treat during this...
