I've been here five times now and my experience has been similar on every visit, which is both a good and bad thing! I have tried several different dishes and enjoyed all of them. Their oysters in particular are fresh, delicious and excellent value for money, their mussels, prawn and salmon dishes have all been good and the staff have always been friendly and welcoming. The prices are fair and I've never been disappointed by the quality of the fish and seafood. The main downside, and one that has been mentioned by several other reviewers, is the service. Not, as I said, the attitude or personality of the servers, who have always been very nice, but the organisation, and I have to assume the supervision and system they operate under. On every visit I've experienced long waits in my order being taken, then even longer waits in the food being brought, in some cases with the main courses arriving before the starters, and more than once at the same time. And I'm not talking twenty minute waits, but 30 or 40 before the order is taken, and the same again before even cold starters arrive. On one visit I ordered oysters as a starter, and then waited forty minutes before the other starter and two mains arrived, but no oysters. I asked about them of course, but we finished the main course and still no oysters! Finally I asked to cancel the order as we had to leave and only then did they come within five minutes or so. There have been similar, but less extreme, delays on other visits and I have almost always had to chase up food and the bill. It's a real shame because everything else is good and I really do wish the restaurant every success. But this a problem wholly within the control of the management to fix, either through training or through improving their internal systems. I don't know if they have a floor manager or head server, but if they could improve this one area it would make a huge difference. But honestly, even with these issues, I have no hesitation recommending this as one of the nicest places to eat in Bratislava (if you're not...
Read moreMy recent visit to Chermorka was, unfortunately, a disappointing experience that fell well short of expectations. Despite the restaurant's reputation, several aspects of the evening left much to be desired.
Upon arrival, we waited a full 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. A simple "We'll be with you shortly" would have sufficed, but instead, we were left feeling ignored and unwelcome.
We began our meal with a portion of calamari, which, while flavorful, was shockingly overpriced at €14 for a mere 130 grams. This set the tone for what would become a recurring theme: overpriced dishes with underwhelming portions.
The main course—a seafood platter that I had enjoyed on a previous visit and portion seemed in order—was particularly disappointing. Advertised as an 800-gram serving, the actual portion we received was nowhere near that weight. It seemed as though only 500 grams of seafood were present, with the rest possibly accounted for in the sauce, though I highly doubt it.
Adding to the frustration, we ordered bread to accompany our meal and waited another 15 minutes for its arrival. Only after reminding the staff did it finally come, but to our surprise, we were charged for an extra portion of bread that we neither ordered nor received. This was an unnecessary and aggravating oversight.
While it's clear that the staff are trying their best, the restaurant appears to be significantly understaffed, leading to the kind of mistakes.
In conclusion, while the food at Chermorka is generally good, the restaurant is woefully understaffed, and the prices are far too high for the subpar experience offered. I would hesitate to return unless significant...
Read moreHad such high expectations for this place but ended up pretty disappointed. First; the waiter didn't even know the difference between the oysters they offer, she just lifted her shoulders and said "I don't know". Through Google I realized that the difference was based on where they are harvested. We ordered 4 oysters for almost €15. They tasted like when you're wallowed by the ocean and happen to drink some salty water. The only garnish was a piece of lemon... The risotto was actually good, same with the scallops and the asparagus. But the greatest issue was with the tuna Tartar because it had so much mayonnaise that you couldn't say whether it was tuna or something else. It is not specified in the menu that Mayo is part of the dish, when I asked the waiter she said "it's not mayo, it is ginger sauce"... To my surprise, after explaining to Anastasia (the girl in charge of the Service) that I'm allergic to mayonnaise, I told her I would like to have the tartar without it. It was served and tasted better, however, when asking for the check, I ended up paying for both, the Mayo tartar and the one without. By the way, my total was over €100.
Bottom line: Over-priced restaurant, tiny portions and...
