Food was great, place was aesthetic, food was worth the money. HOWEVER, service left something to be desired. The first waitress was nice, but, I assume maybe because of a language barrier, our drinks order was messed up. Not a big deal, instead of ginger tea we were brought mint. However, further problems appeared when out of 7 people, 6 people had their food and our other friend had to wait for a while to receive their food. Slightly annoying, but also acceptable. But the last straw, however, was when our friend found a hair in their pancakes (he is bald so that could not have been his). We asked the nice waitress on what to do, however, I assume her English skills were not great, so she called another waitress. We kindly explained the situation, she had an attitude, asked where the hair was (we have it on video), then asked “change?” (we agreed), did not apologize and left. Things got interesting as they wanted to charge us for both the original and replacement pancakes. They eventually gave us the replacement pancakes for free and a tiramisu for free, which seems nice on the surface but overall I cannot say we had an enjoyable experience (we would have preferred to pay for the tiramisu and have the pancakes be free as the pancakes were 2x more expensive than the tiramisu, but whatever, I guess it was a nice gesture.) I would recommend the place for the food, but I can’t say whether you’ll get good service; I would...
Read moreI was expecting nice experience (first time in Mondieu), but servers crashed it. Firstly there weren’t places, but 7 people table, where 2 people pair sat - became free (they completed their meal and gone). I sat there. I was asked to move to other table (I think it is the most bad tables, even legs couldn’t fit there). They said that this table for 7, even two people sat there before. Ok, I moved, than I saw the table near me with sofa is free (I still not ordered) and wanted to move there and start to move, but servers wanted to sit other guests (that entering the cafe) and said me: you’re only one (this is discrimination). I’m out. Please teach your staff how to be polite, correct and don’t discriminate people when only 1 man/woman come. change tables/sits near the wall behind the door (wall without window, on right of main bar desk) - they are not comfortable 7 people table coukd be easily divided on 3 tables and you could connect/split them any time. And give it to people, there are not so many companies, that come with 6-7 people.
Just to add: Other Mondieu cafe made everything good this day, luckily it is just several steps...
Read moreMondieu is generally a great spot, no matter which location you visit. They offer a wide selection of delicious breakfast and brunch options, along with some really cool drinks, all in a pleasant and stylish atmosphere.
However, I would not recommend this particular branch in Bratislava. We visited on a Saturday as a group of three women and unfortunately had a disappointing experience with one of the female staff members. Her attitude was dismissive and visibly annoyed, which really impacted our visit. In contrast, the male staff were polite and friendly.
It felt unprofessional and disrespectful when she rolled her eyes as we asked to pay and then told us that splitting the bill was not possible – and in a rather rude manner.
That said, the food itself was excellent and lived up to Mondieu's usual high standards.
With better service, this location could easily match the positive experiences we've...
