Went here for our traditional Slovenian experience. For context the restaurant had to serve 50+ people at the same time, which they achieved.
The cold meat and cheese plate was average. Mean on the cream cheese and Parma ham.
Then confusingly, the kitchen sent out all of the side salads first, which confused a lot of dining guests as they thought this was the entire main course. So by the time the actual main course came out, we had already eaten the side salad.
Anyway - the salad was mediocre, with the only interesting note being the walnuts on top.
For main, it was a pork , chicken snitchel and mashed potatoes with onions through it. I’m not sure why snitchel and pork was served together as they were very disparate and did not go well together. Chicken was low quality - akin more to nugget meat than a breast of chicken. The pork was tasty when combined with the mash. I would have loved to know the history of this dish. Alas, that was not provided.
My favourite dish in the Slovenian experience was the candied pear with a custard swirl. Firm, sweet and juicy. I could taste the sweet berries used in the sauce. Lovely.
Regards the Slovenian experience, I would have liked the waiters to walk through the history/ tradition...
Read moreBe careful if you are a tourist and do math before paying . Let me explain. First we have been politely served even though for three times they spoke Slovenian to us even if we didn’t understand, then continued in English. My girlfriend received a salad which was ok, however I had to wait other 25 minutes. I ordered deer stew but received pork sausages with potatoes and cabbage. We ordered fries as well which were defrosted, undercooked and very greasy. At last they tried to charge us with an extra 27 euros for a bottle of wine that we never ordered (we drank just water). Luckily I looked at the receipt before paying, many slap their card regardless. Every item on the receipt was written in Slovenian as well so tourists may have hard time to understand and be easily scammed. I hope it was a genuine mistake, however I don’t recommend the place, above all too...
Read moreThe food was good but not piping hot as there was a large group of school children. The ambience, even outside (where we chose to sit), was poor as the group of school children and teachers were blasting music, dancing on the chairs, shouting, banging the tables and floor. The waiter explained that the group was booked all week as part of a travel deal. Not a single person spoke to the group asking them to not blast music, bang or dance on the chairs, etc. Understandable as they must make a killing from group bookings. I think this restaurant has good potential but avoid it at all cost if you see a large group.
Additionally, we were told that the wait for food was about 45 minutes but that they could offer us soup for the long wait. Unfortunately, we were charged for the soup at the end of our meal.
Sadly, I would not come back to...
