If it’s traditional Slovenian food you want then you MUST eat here! We were recommended here by the team at the river and it’s most definitely worth the 450m walk from in town to here. The line was long but moving and as we were a party of four we were quick to be given a table (I would recommend couple’s particularly booking in advance). The venue is gorgeous with a warm and rustic feel but with modern touches. The staff are actively attentive and service is excellent. Our table was clean with enough space for four adults, spaced nicely from the surrounding tables to not be eating with the other couples seated in proximity to us. The menu is well structured for sequence and was in Italian and English for us so it made for easy ordering. Drinks were the local wine spritz, juice and a local soft drink like Fanta called ora. We ordered a number of items to share being: - the compe - Štruklji - beef soup - Bograč goulash - Kranjska Klobasa - beef shank Not a dish to fault. Absolutely amazing with different textures, balances of flavours and flavour combinations. My favourite by far being the beef shank cooked in soup being tender, succulent and plentiful. The Štruklji was delicious for such simplicity but complex in flavour and texture. Will most definitely be returning for another of these. The meals were cleaned up by us and I was amazed at the value given the helping and the quality of food and service delivered. Make sure you hold at least one lunch or dinner when in Ljubljana as this traditional restaurant should not be missed. Thank you to the server that took care of us and gave great recommendations. See you when next in Ljubljana

I would give it one star if not for the beef soup which was not great, but alright, I guess, after adding some salt to it - pretty underseasoned. I also had a veal roulade stuffed with chicken liver. It was probably cooked a week ago, stored in a fridge and then reheated before serving. It had a consistency of rubber - chewy and tough. The flavor was bland, to say the least. Does the chef know that there are salt, pepper, herbs and other spices? It was accompanied by some sort of potato mash which had some off-putting ( rotten) aftertaste. I thought that a self respecting cook would never serve this kind of food to his-her family - this is embarrassing. It is puzzling to me, that this place has such a high rating. And yes - some waiters have an attitude. The place is poorly run - one waiter seated me and then another came along and said that the table was reserved. I came here from Croatia and Montenegro and this is the worst meal I had on the trip. I bought a burek for 2 euro around the corner and it was far superior to this “high end” meal. I am going to stick to burek and chevapi from now on - no more “ traditional” Slovenian restaurants for me

price was expensive for the taste and the service. imagine something like a usual family restaurant. we went there for a cute Slovenian dinner, which our host recommended here. we both were quite disappointed by the experience. after we arrived and got served, it took around an hour and a half. fair enough, they already informed us in the beginning that the reservation was fully booked for this night, and we had to wait until there was a free seat. But we had the feeling the server‘s attitude towards us wasn‘t considerate enough. when several group customers were getting seated in front of us, they never informed us whether they were customers who had reservations or who had just arrived. we had to assume all the time if they(servers) would see us or not, and eventually we had to ask them if they were still minding us. maybe we were a young couple and theres many old group people? i couldn‘t quite get the impression we had after i left the restaurant. we paid the same price with them. some part of shank‘s beef was a bit chewy, other parts were tender enough. Also the Slovenian dumpling with meat tastes okay.

One of few Slovenian restaurants in Ljubljana that I found. On Sunday many restaurants are closed, but fortunately this one was open. I find the service there a bit strange. At first I sat outside and when the waitress came I asked for the menu. She said they don't serve food outside, which is odd (but maybe standard in Ljubljana?). Then I went inside, but as nobody came to greet me I chose a free table. Then another waitress came rushing and quite unpleasantly informed me this table was reserved and waived at a corner of the restaurant where I could sit. I must say after such "welcome" I wasn't comfortable staying, but I was so hungry I decided to stay. I was given the menu and then I waited quite long for taking my order. Finally, I ordered from Gregorjevo menu, parsnip cream soup and veal ribs. Soup was delicious, creamy and delicate. Ribs looked better than they tasted, meat was quite hard and stuck to the bone. It wasn't cooked long enough. Portion size was more than filling, prices were ok. The interior was nice. If it weren't for the service, I would give this restaurant a star more.

Seriously I don’t know what the hype is about at this place. My hotel said its the best restaurant and it was fully booked when I showed up. Service was great, atmosphere great, but food was the worst meal I had in Slovenia. The mushroom žlikrofi was too salty and a little bitter. Wasn’t expecting a traditional dumpling like this. The sauce was overwhelmingly salty and too much in proportion to the dumplings. While I was there, they turned away a bunch of customers due to no reservation on a Sunday night. There’s bar seating with about 6 seats. Should have suggested that to the walk-in customers. When paying the bill, the bartender asked how was my food (first time he checked) and I told him the truth, he said that I should have said something and they could have changed it. Well, it’s my first time in Slovenia and don’t know their customs, may be this could have helped (hence 3 stars instead of 2) but still don’t serve a dish like this. The saving grace was the cab sauv wine. May be others will have more luck with their other dishes.

I was disappointed with this restaurant. I had searched a lot for typical Slovenian food and looking at the comments and photos I thought it would be a good idea. First deception: I wished to eat the typical food with sausage and buckwheat but they didn’t have it. So I finally asked for the “chef’s special” fish dish but actually it had way more potatoes than fish. The portion of fish was good but really small so paying 19,8€ is not really reasonable. My boyfriend asked for the specials pasta and a polenta as a side. The polenta was really good but the pasta okay. Since the portion of fish was really small I ordered a typical dessert (Gibanica) and I was again disappointed. I didn’t feel at all the walnuts. And also staff were not nice. They placed people that arrived after us in a table and they would leave us behind the bar isolated if I didn’t have asked to change. I left the restaurant really sad to have this type of experience of Slovenian food.
