I ordered a 600g sirloin on the bone via UberEats, expecting a high quality meal from what I thought was a reputable restaurant. Unfortunately, the reality was far from what I anticipated, and I was left completely disappointed.
To start, the rice was undercooked, hard, grainy, and entirely inedible. It was obvious that it had not been prepared properly. However, the real issue was with the steak itself. The meat was rotten. The smell was terrible strong and unmistakably off. It was so bad that it made me feel sick. I tried to taste it, but it was impossible to eat. It was clear that the meat was spoiled and should never have been served to anyone. This was not just about poor taste, it raised serious concerns about the restaurant’s food safety and hygiene standards.
Naturally, I expected that such a serious issue would be handled professionally, so I called the restaurant to resolve the matter. What followed was an experience that left me even more frustrated and shocked. When I called, the lady who answered the phone transferred me to the manager. I thought I would finally get some answers, but the manager then transferred me to the chef. This was baffling, why was I speaking to the chef about rotten meat instead of management? Nonetheless, I explained the issue, but the chef was not helpful at all.
Realising I was getting nowhere, I asked to speak to the manager again. The manager listened and promised to call me back with a resolution. At this point, I was hopeful that they were taking the issue seriously. Ten minutes later, I received a call back from the manager, but to my astonishment, she informed me that there was nothing they could do since I ordered through UberEats. I was stunned. I tried to explain that the problem was not with the delivery service but with the quality of their food, but they refused to take any responsibility.
To make matters worse, the owner, Louis-Delien Pienaar, made it clear that they saw it as UberEats’ problem, not theirs. I tried to reason with them, explaining that they were the ones who prepared and sold the rotten meat, but they were not interested in finding a resolution. The attitude from the owner and staff was dismissive and unapologetic. They simply did not care.
It became clear to me that Cattle Baron Tygervalley was unwilling to take any accountability. The way they handled the situation was shocking. They behaved as if they were untouchable, like they were above solving issues for their customers.
If you choose to order from Cattle Baron Tygervalley, be aware, don’t expect any problems to be resolved. They clearly believe they are beyond reproach, and their customer service reflects that. This experience has left me not only disappointed but also deeply concerned about their approach to food safety and...
Read moreI ordered a med rare ribeye this Sunday and got a grey piece of meat which looked like a frozen steak that was defrosted. I was very disappointed and sent it back. I would not have complained about it on this forum but Louise Delien Pienaar just phoned me to tell me how disappointed she is to hear that I complained about the steak as they sent her a picture and that steak was done correctly and then she started to try and educate me on how meat is cooked. Disgusting. You should go on a course to learn how to deal with clients as your tactics will not ensure return clients. - to reply to your response, it is clear you care more about discrediting my review and getting your side across than to try and apologize for me having a poor experience at your establishment. The fillet was blue raw after I asked for med rare and I showed your manager this when I cut into it. I told your waiter to bring me a box so I can go cook it properly at home myself. At this point being dissatisfied twice I had completely lost my appetite. When they brought the bill it was already taken off so not sure about your comments. My words were that due to the fact I was not billed for this I would be back again regardless. I also gave a R100 tip on the R500 bill assuming it would have been 10% on R1000 bill roughly was I charged for the other steak as this was not the waiters fault. My partner was with me who witnessed this all unlike you who were not even there and is going on hearsay. After your rude and obnoxious phone call I posted the review. Clearly you do not want my patronage but I will share my side of the story so people who care about being a valued client is made aware that customers are not valued at your establishment but rather your opinion. I still have not even received an apology for this poor experience....
Read moreMy wife and I have been attending the Cattle Baron Tyger Waterfront for some ten years now including celebrations and entertaining friends with absolute 100% confidence. I have not once had a bad experience and have found the food consistently excellent, and the service has been impeccable. On my recent visit I ordered a medium grilled ribeye steak. When it arrived, it was it was clearly overcooked. I, rather embarrassingly, called the waiter over and after agreeing that it was overdone, he asked me to slice the steak in the middle which I did. We agreed that there was a vague pink, grey colouring but he categorically agreed that it was overdone He politely removed the steak and said he would bring another. A few minutes later the meat was plonked in front of me and a woman, who I assume is the new owner, made a statement which absolutely flummoxed me. She then proceeded to pointing and prodding at the sliced meat with a knife and insisted that it was medium as there was a little vague pink line. She even went as far as to pick up the menu and read to me what a medium steak is according to their guidelines. There was indeed a millimetre or two of dusty pink meat in the very centre of the steak. Her patronising, pretentious passive aggressive attitude angered and embarrassed me to the very core. I told her to take it away and she promptly stormed off.
What she said was. Now that the meat has been resting for a while, I am sure you agree that it is pinker that what it was when first served. HUH!!! So, when meat rests it unrooks, decookes reverse cooks??
Sadly, I am simply too...
