We arrived at around 7.15pm (public holiday), got seated and looked through the menu. I was really looking forward to trying the sushi from this place as it was my first time eating here. It was heritage day and the place was very quiet when we arrived. According to the chef, Sundays and public holidays are both very quiet.
Located in Tyger waterfront, we came a long way and let me just tell you, the food did not disappoint. As we were the only customers there, the food was prepared quickly and served to us with a smile. We ordered 8x Deep fried prawn and avo rolls; 8x spicy salmon rainbow roll; 5x mixed roses. The food was fresh, seasoned and sauced amazingly and the fish was sliced thickly and to perfection. There was definitely more fish & avo than rice - and that works for me.
The chef and waitress were sweet and offered lovely service, the decor and arrangement was tasteful and it felt welcoming. 10/10, I had a lovely, cosy evening here. Will definitely recommend this place to other sushi lovers + bonus points for sushi...

The restaurant was busy so the wait for takeaway was about an hour. There was only one guy making sushi so that explained it. I dont mind waiting for good sushi - but that was not the case. Takeaway boxes were little plastic containers where the sushi had been squashed into. Some of the deep fried sushi was soggy and soaked the other sushi packed in with it. Salmon roses meat to ratio was way off - junks of salmon rapped around a little bit of rice. My wife literally took the salmon off and pan fried the pieces to enjoy in a different way... All this and the price was on...
Read moreMy parents started eating at Yuz before I was born and most friday night we would go to Yuz for some sushi. We have been supporting him and his sister for over 16 years now and we never eat sushi anywhere else. It feels so welcoming every time I set foot in his restaurant. The sushi is the best you will get by far in the Durbanville era and I will even go and say Cape Town. The restaurant is hot big, but you are surrounded by wonderful people, food and atmosphere. I hope one day I can take my kids to Yuz...
