GHODLAS TYGER WATERFRONT — Restaurant in Bellville

I called to place an order for a medium butter chicken and a garlic naan, but was immediately met with extremely rude phone service. The person on the line seemed impatient and eager to hang up, which made the interaction feel rushed and unpleasant. Despite clearly requesting a medium spice level, I was given a mild dish instead.

Unfortunately, things only got worse. They called back later to let me know my food was ready, but the tone was again very rude, as if scolding me for being late. I understand I was delayed, but there’s no excuse for speaking to a customer that way — and to top it off, they ended the call abruptly without even a goodbye.

When I finally got home and began dishing up the rice, I was horrified to find a small cockroach in the food. I was completely disgusted and lost all appetite. Finding something like that in your meal is absolutely unacceptable, and it left me deeply...

HAVING dined often over the past 40 years at scores of Indian eateries in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Namibia, Malawi and South Africa makes me no connoisseur, but I believe I know what I an talking about when I say Ghodlas ranks among the top ten. Good selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes on offer. Our party of seven enjoyed a selection. From the non-vegetarian platter for four, butter chicken for the less adventurous to palak paneer, biryani and a selection of dhal. Good value and acceptable service. Owner(s) could however spice-up the interior decor to it more 'Indiany'. They should also give consideration to placing Thali's on the dinner menu as only served at lunch as a special offering. If I could give this restaurant a higher rating I most definitely would, and they would most certainly have earned it.

We are talking about every Indian cuisine you can possibly think of!

The food is presented very well, and the service is brilliant and fast. The portions are also quite sizable.

Here's the best part: It's affordable! Even their lamb dishes are affordable! Usually, those prices go through the roof in most other restaurants.

But THIS restaurant is a true gem! 💎

It was so difficult deciding what to eat because there is so much variety! If I could order everything, I would. So I'll just go ahead an recommend everything. Because all the food I saw in this restaurant was mouth-watering.
