Recommended by our walking tour guide Keagan from Walk Cape Town to come here for some authentic African cuisine.
Had to walk up short flight of stairs to the second floor for the restaurant.
The staff who served us looked honest. However the restaurant had a dull atmosphere and extremely basic layout. The menu given to us listed the dishes without any prices. We asked for the prices before ordering - all main dishes are R150 each. We proceeded to order given it was recommended by our walking tour guide Keagan as he encouraged us to support the local community. To our dismay, it turned out both dishes we ordered were mediocre and we felt the food was definitely over-priced.
The dishes we ordered are: Jollof rice with beef stew White rice with tomato sauce and chicken
Our bill came out to be R300 approx USD16.20.
We left the restaurant wondering why did our guide recommended us to come to this place for West African food. Honestly we have tried West African food in Berlin, Russia and other parts of the world which we felt were much better in taste.
Will leave you to judge whether this place is worth checking out whenever you are...

Read moreThis place is not what it seems. It appears that local tour guides steer here tour groups of non-locals who want "authentic african food". The food itself is fine, not great. Portions small by local standards (although good for someone like me, as I can never finish the local portion). No prices on the menu, but a single dish was charged 150ZAR, which for the type of place (hole in the wall) and the amount is about x2 overpriced (though, of course, still cheap for a western tourist). So - def. a tourist trap, which is a bit sad (as there is a pretty authentic excellent African food just...
