DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE, OH MY GOD! My two friends and I went here for "First Thursday". We were put on through Instagram but we quickly discovered that it was all a facade. We arrived and ordered the Date Night Special. It consisted of 12 pieces of sushi and two margarita pizzas. I cannot comment on the sushi since I'm a vegetarian and I do not enjoy sushi. I also cannot comment on the pizza since WE DIDN'T RECEIVE IT.
We waited for two hours and fifteen minutes. During that time another group arrived and was served within thirty minutes - drinks and food. My friend and I, along with two other tables began to wonder and discuss what was going on. We all had been waiting for hours and had not received our pizzas.
We then noticed that the big group consisted of white people and our tables were only black girls - two tables had two black girls each, then my table, had three black girls. One of my friends decided to voice our concerns. She went to a bald, bearded man (whom we assumed was the manager) and asked why the group that arrived last was served first. She explained that we had been patient for two hours drinking the drinks that we had to get from another store. He said that we received the sushi and it was as if we should be grateful for being served at all. He then called her a nuisance and told her to sit down. His condescending tone was disrespectful.
A few minutes passed of us discussing and sharing what had happened with other tables and he approached my friend at our table and said, "If you have a problem, go sort it out with the table." This childish attitude was so distasteful that we decided that we had had enough. We announced our departure and he spat back, "Okay, bye."
The service was awful, the staff was rude and I don't want to cry 'racist' but it's difficult to see the brighter side when all the tables with people of colour were left in the background while the table with the white people was top priority.
In conclusion: YOU'VE...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been to this branch twice & quite frankly it seems to get worse every experience. The first time, my friend & I went for their Women's day event - we paid the ticket to enjoy an amazing evening of jazz. It was to our surprise to arrive at dull & empty venue. Mind you, the event was supposed to start 2 hours prior - we were then told that the event is only happening in Muizenburg not the town branch. They somehow just "forgot" to mention that when booking/ or on any of their flyers. The manager was quite polite about it but the social media rep who we enquired about our refund, was very rude and took ages to pay us back. The second time, my partner and I attempted their valentine's day set menu. All in all, the manger is quite frankly the only thing that's keeping the long street branch standing. The sushi was dry and tasteless, the pizza was burnt to the point where the bottom was black, I requested for a remake where the second pizza came out even worse. For dessert, it was supposed to be a belgian waffle with ice cream and chocolate sauce. What we recieved was a mushy melted bowl of vanilla ice cream with knock off oreos and 2 cut up strawberries. The manager noticed we didn't touch our food - and aimed to defend it by calling it a "an updated mousse" Embarrassing. It was a melted bowl of ice cream, the image will be attached. All in all, the service is terrible, communication is a shocker but atleast the manager is always polite and really does try to solve the countless of issues you will face when dining there. The other nice aspect is that you can bring your own wine, and they don't charge you corkage. The 1 star is for the manager. Don't go there, cape town has a lot...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThree extremely hungry souls wandered in after 7 hours of hiking. The staff was VERY accommodating and the service was great.
However, we didn't like their Pizzas and Burgers. Pizzas had too much sauce on them making them soggy (sauce didn't taste good either), the cheese on them wasn't good and overall the taste was really underwhelming. On the positive side, the base itself wasn't bad. Napoli style pizza is my jam so if someone screws it up it doesn't sit well with me.
As for the burgers, my friends said that their beef patty was good but the other ingredients messed up the taste. As for my vegan burger, it was a disaster. The patty was burnt (might have tasted okay if it wasn't - but not sure). The fries with both the burgers seemed like they were steamed rather than fried - they were pretty raw and as such we left them untouched.
I would suggest them to improve their pizza game and at least make sure that the fries are not raw. Additionally, they'd do well to upgrade their toilet and make sure that the sitting area doesn't get stuff - specially in this summer.
It pains me to write this review because the staff was so accommodating and I would have loved to be a regular here but...
