I went on Friday the 20th of June for lunch. There wasn't tomato soup for the third time and that is what we came for. We both opted for the no fuss burger with potato wedges. The burger itself was good but to be fair, the patty and bacon is outsourced. I love potato wedges but these were undercooked, pale and inedible so much so that my friend decided to not eat his at all and I tried to eat mine, but it wasn't quite edible. R60 was omitted from the bill but this shouldn't have been served to begin with. Super disappointed as every other time we haven't even been served potato wedges due to them being out of stock and preferring potato wedges over sweet potato fries, I thought that would be the only redemption to not having tomato soup. I would have opted for the tofu breakfast wrap but having had some off days on that one too, I thought the burger was the safest option. Upon entering, I overheard another customer saying to their friend that the burger they had just had was one of the best burgers and as I'm not sure that they are vegan, this is a huge compliment to The Conscious Kitchen. Unfortunately, the wedges let us down completely. On top of that, the lady next to us gave feedback to the one staff member on the rice paper rolls as I did see she pulled out all the filling as the rice paper was chewy and difficult to eat, she said. She said to me that perhaps the kitchen is having an off day. I'm not sure if this is the case or if there has just been a general decline in the quality of the food. I love supporting vegan restaurants as there are few left but I can't keep supporting one that I'm unsure whether I'll have an enjoyable...
Read moreWonât be returning. I sat down at a table and took out my laptop and was told I need to move because I was in a âno laptop areaâ. There is no signage letting people know that having your laptop out means you need to sit in a different area. I was then moved to a shared table where there were a couple of people in close proximity on calls and children using the shared table. If there was appropriate signage, I would have went elsewhere. I donât believe the âno laptopâ reason for moving me from my table, because if the establishment felt strongly about that, they would have signs clearly stating that. When I walked out there were two people on their laptops, without being told to move, one of them sitting at the table I was told to move from - picture attached.
Response to owners response:
Your response doesnât respond to how patrons are treated unequally in your establishment.
There are two women on their laptops, one of which was sitting there for an extended amount of time, since she had already finished her meal. The other was still busy with her meal. Which meant the staff were very aware of them sitting there WITH their laptops. Someone needed to have served them their food.
These are not large tables, they are for two people and if these two women were allowed to sit (till they finished their food) then why was I asked to move long before my food even arrived?
You are welcome to implement policies but they need to be applied to all patrons, EQUALLY and there needs to be signage visible to...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at The Conscious Kitchen and everything about the experience was wonderful. I ordered the vegan lox bagel, and it was not only visually stunning but absolutely deliciousâtopped with creamy spread, marinated carrot ribbons, a drizzle of flavorful sauce, and garnished with edible flowers and sesame seeds. Every bite was fresh, balanced, and satisfying.
The ambiance is serene and thoughtfully designed, with lots of greenery and natural wood tones that create a peaceful vibe. The circular chair and plant wall added a special touchâperfect for a mindful meal or a cozy catch-up.
A special shoutout to my server, Happiness, who truly lived up to their name! Warm, welcoming, and attentiveâthey made the experience even more memorable.
Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a beautiful plant-based meal...
