KAUAI The Wedge — Restaurant in Gauteng

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures to share... but I sure do have a story to tell!

While housesitting in the area, Kauai The Wedge became part of my daily routine. The staff was always kind and friendly (which I've become less accustomed to these days), and the store was always clean and vibey.

More than that, I didn't really pay attention to much else.

However, on what I'd like to guess was my 4th repeat visit to the store, the lady greeted me with the biggest smile and asked me if I'd have my usual, which honestly made me feel so special!

My usual order has items removed, so it's not exactly standard! The young man making my smoothie would always come to hand it to me personally with the warmest energy and the sweetest smile that would just make my day!!

Today's visit was that entire experience but on illegal amounts of steroids!! I had my usual friendly greeting, followed by her punching in my order without even needing to ask. The highlight, however, was when she called out the order to the kitchen, the remaining 5 staff members screamed back, "the usual," and we all burst out laughing!

On a low self-esteem day, this was exactly what my soul needed!! I am so grateful for the kindness and warmth they always show me, and even if this branch is not on my usual route, I will go out of my way just because of the service.

And I suppose it's important to mention that my smoothie is always exceptionally made! It is fluffy and creamy, and the taste is perfection...

Great spot, however the staff doesn’t bother cleaning the floor and tables after customers have used it. Crumbs on the floor and dry coffee marks on the table. Used the sanitizer on the front desk and had to ask for a serviette to wipe down the table and the lady just looked at me doing what’s meant to be her job. Wow 😯 are they even trained?

Today was the third time I went in to get a smoothie and the experience hasn’t been pleasant. The employees are continually chitchatting loudly. They can practically be heard from the back of the shop while dining outside in front. Certainly, not an experience one would expect from a new shop in the neighborhood. Going back to being a regular at the Seattle coffee shop next door. Will continue supporting Kauai just not that particular shop sadly it’s really close to my home. Thanks....

The service at this place varies depending on who is at the till. The tall lady is exceptionally friendly, going the extra mile for clients. However, if you encounter the short one, expect a less pleasant experience. She's unfriendly, never ever smiles, makes people feel uncomfortable, and delays service without notifying when the food is ready unless prompted.. we were waiting for about 40 min for our food when I went to search for it and found it behind the till. The short one ddnt say sorry, ddnt appologies, no smile.. nothing.....
