Lokkum Turkish Restaurant — Restaurant in Gauteng

What a disappointment this was.

I don't know if it's because I've already been to a many few Turkish restaurants in my lifetime, or it's because I just don't fancy Turkish food.

It was lunch time and it was so quiet, I assumed the restaurant was closed.

We of course sat down and got to placing our orders quite quickly, but the staff member seemed very clueless on how the meals are prepared.

I mean the least you can do is go and ask right? Right....

I ordered the mixed platter and asked for rice only, no chips, and so did my wife on her order.

I usually expect portions to be large, but didn't mind ordering so we could get a taste of everything.

Until the food arrived, in due time if I may give them that one and only compliment?

The portions are so small, it was a joke, really, I don't know if they intentionally served us like we are kids or we ordered off a kids menu? For R250 , i got R50 worth of food.

Insult to injury, the rice portion was so small, i didn't know if I had to laugh or cry.

They didn't even compensate for the chips we asked to leave out, so I had to tell them to serve it so I may take it away for a soul out there with a hungry stomach.

Been there done that, will never waste my time coming back to this...

Firstly, just because of the owners rotten attitude, i will never eat here again, he has no sense of the word "customer service" and acts like people are eating at his restaurant for free. For this very reason, i will NEVER support this place again..... Yes the place looks lovely and everything is presented beautifully but we pay for the food and let me be honest… The food is very very underwhelming My husband and i both ordered fillet steaks They were both absolutely dry even though we asked for extra basting, there was NO basting at all The grilled veggies tasted old The falafels tasted baked instead of fried and wasnt tasty at all. The pepper sauce was Knorr soup and the mushroom sauce was weak and looked like drain water. I literally used the pink salt on the table to season everything. The owner sat right next to us, heard us complain and never addressed a single issue!!!!! I was so unsatisfied by my meal that i wasted it and brought it home for my dog and ordered Pizza...

Our first date night in months and I'm so happy it was here! I have been wanting to try Turkish food for a while now and my fiance surprised me with a date at Lokkum.

The service was amazing, the waiter was super friendly and super informed regarding the menu. Since I was after the authentic Turkish experience, he gave us great suggestions. I'm just sad I didn't get his name.

The food... wow! I loved everything! We cleaned our plates! The presentation was beautiful and the taste was phenomenal! I'll definitely be back to try different things on the menu. It is reasonably priced and they are large portions.

The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and we had the privilege of sitting outside at what I called the corner table, getting some beautiful views of Norwood and the sunset. I'd been at this location before when it was the Food Museum restaurant so it was a lovely surprise to see the change.

Will definitely be suggesting Lokkum to...
