We came here on a work lunch, sadly for the owner our very large company will never be using this branch again. My main reason for writing this review is in the hope that the owner will see it so that they are aware of how their restaurant is being run. Three of us ordered the boa buns, but both the chicken and beef were severely overcooked and lacking in filling. Despite a complaint, the remade food was even worse, with the chicken being dry and extremely discoloured. Plus, by the time our remade food came out, the rest of the table had finished their meals. The waitress failed to address our uneaten food. No one came near our table again. With our next meeting approaching, we went upto the counter and attempted to pay. But we were informed that the card machines were out of order, causing significant inconvenience. We were asked to pay for the bill in cash. We explained that we could not do that as it was a company card, and the transaction had to be done on the card. We could not use the company card to make a large cash withdrawal, which is very obvious. I asked how long the card machine had not been working for, and apparently, it had been all day. It is common sense when a booking, especially a large one arrive, to inform them that the card machines are not working. 20 minutes later, we were still waiting. We were now late for our next booking and the rest of our colleagues had arrived at the meeting point for that appointment. I asked to speak to a manager and we were told that she was not there. We had 5 staff members all trying to get the machines to work. We asked if we could leave our details and our company details and come back to pay once their machines were working as we were now extremely late for our next appointment. We were rudely told that we could not because we might not come back to pay. I pointed out that we were not told at the start that the card machines were down, our food had to be sent back and still did not come back OK after the second time, they could all clearly see the untouched food on our table, had not asked if it was OK and still had the audacity to charge for it. And now we were nearly half an hour late for our next appointment all because of their bad service. One of the 5 staff members simply said that it would only take a few more minutes. Bare in mind that this was thousands of rands our company was paying for this lunch. The absence of a manager and the ineptitude of the staff reflect poorly on the establishment. Our dissatisfaction and the inability to rectify the situation have led to our decision not to return for future company lunches. The owner needs to address these issues with their staff promptly to avoid losing more business.

If you like trying unique flavours and cuisines then I suggest giving MOMO &O a try. It's the 3rd "branch" if I can call it that since the first inception of Momo Baohaus, to hit the Joburg Foodie scene and thereafter Momo Soko, Illovo, Situated on the ever popular Grant Avenue in Norwood it's giving its neighbouring eateries a run for its money. So if you into all things Tapas, Ramen, Poke Bowls and Bao buns then this is a place for you. I ordered the Lemongrass Yuzu Ginger beer. Quite nice but didn't have that ginger kick I was looking for. For meals we ordered a variety of things namely * Umami Edamame Beans - marinated in sesame Oil and topped with Sesame and served with a Tangy Ginger Dipping sauce. * Twice cooked Beef Ribs - although very tasty, it was way too fatty * Crispy Calamari with Hoison and Sesame. These were absolutely delicious with every bite. * Deep Sea Bao - tempura prawn, hoison, pickled ginger, qp mayo, sriracha, spring onion, coriander and Sesame. Great taste but the steamed bun was a bit doughy and thick. * Oahu Poké bowl with Salmon and Jasmine rice. Chillig Soy dressing, Kimchi, edamame, Pickled Ginger, Avocado, pickled Shiitake, Ramen egg, Yellow Daikon, Kale, Spring Onion, Asian sale, fried garlic, Red Onion, Gochujang, Wakame Seaweed and toasted Sesame. Yes it's a mouthful and very overwhelming. Will definitely go back and try a few more items since its closer to home. Will plan better so I can even give dessert a try next visit. All the staff were amazing, friendly and helpful so that's a plus. They all eager to explain the menu and the food if need be 👍👍👍 I'm also a fan of their simple yet effective decor, the seats however are not as comfy. I adore the bottles used for the Soy sauce but it's not user friendly they mess easily lol. I have added the menu in my pics as they still very new so check it out and let me know if this is your kinda spot??? #TheFoodMusketeer #TheFoodMusketeerEats #TheFoodMusketeerApproved #TFMMomo&O

- The kitchen didn’t have 1) Ramen; 2) Rice; 3) noodles. Bit of a poor show for a Asian restaurant. - The food which they could make took over 40 min to arrive. When it eventually did there was a hair in one of the bao. - The bowls are chipped, the waiters poorly trained, the restaurant noisy and the manager (who only jumped in to try and save this dismal experience after it was too late) gives rather poor excuses as to why all the above occurred. - They didn’t get one star as the food was quite nice (but at the point when we eventually received it, we probably would have eaten anything). - There are better Asian restaurants nearby. Try Orient in Melrose Arch.

Oct 2024 - unfortunately after this latest meal, we will NO LONGER be supporting.

My wife ordered Enoki Ramen. What she received was a blatant insult. no Enoki mushrooms no Kimchi a leaf of Kale cut into 2 a teaspoon of edamame(6 or 7!) 2 baby bok choy leave bowl filled to the brim with flavourless soup, You couldn't even see the noodles. She eats like a bird and left hungry.

My Ramen was missing an ingredient as well.

As a loyal patron I had previous photos of the boels over the years. I showed the waitress, who was quite friendly and obviously hadn't been there long enough, and she said those weren't photos of their dishes. Ha... Will spend my money elsewhere.

02 Dec 2023 - on a downward trend. Meals are smaller with less vegetables. Sad because your meals were fresh and different.

13 Feb 2020 - waitress Abigail is rude. When we entered she didn't greet, she just asks "how many?" -1⭐. Received the wrong dish. My wife wishes she never asked because Abigail was so rude. You could see almost the disgust on her face like she was doing us a favour.

EXCELLENT meals. Fresh and flavourful. As an Asian, I can recommend the food. Food is 5⭐ No doubt about that and been here countless times. However the last 2 times the service has deteriorated. Everytime we thank our waiter, they simply ignore you. I ask a question about the sushi, I'm told it's on the menu. Really? Here's a tip. There is no tip until the waiters get their act together. You're spoiling an awesome place. Simple decor works well however 2 things are letting the experience down and 3⭐ rating. AC is required during our heatwaves Look at sorting the flies. They can be...
