Mohavi Restaurant — Restaurant in Gauteng

I Normally go to a place a few times before i review them and this had been a bit of a rollercoaster for me.

But a general conception has formed about food and service.

There are times that service will be great and the waiter will check in on you at the appropriate times and there are times it will be terrible from forgetting that you ordered thus delaying your food by another 30 minutes or getting it completely wrong.

So on to the food :

Sushi : The sushi is atleast fresh(imprtant notice) and they only have a few simple items on the menu, but the rice was the downer on this experience more than once. On occasion the rice is either to wet (yes too much water) Or has a viniger after taste. Which honestly ruins the sushi experience for me and doesnt fill that craving i had. 3/10

Syarters : As for the starters they are good i have had a few options now and have found some good one's : (riblets , mince lettuce cups,chicken wings)

Occasionally the waiter would forget the sauce but a quick reminder wil fix that. Although you shouldnt need to do this.7/10

Mains : my go to has become the crispy duck with a bowl of egg fried rice.

The duck has been cooked perfectly each time and the egg fried rice is done right My personal preference would like abit of msg added to the rice bowl for the extra flavour kick but i honestly cannot complain. 8/10

Sadly the customer experience is really lacking and the only reason for me to go back is for some good roasted duck main's

Unfortunately this does damper a great meal

After driving past Mohavi sooooo many times, we finally decided to try them out and it was one of the best decisions we've made. Best friend and I loved everything Mohavi, from the parking attendant to our new trainee waitress (who as nervous as she was did an amazing job). We had 3 staff attend to us: Jayden to give us his recommendations on the food, Pat who helped us taste and choose the perfect bottle of wine, and of course our trainee. For the price we paid, everything was well worth it!

Sitting inside to appreciate the beautiful aesthetic, we ordered wine, followed by an amazing calamari starter to start the evening. Jayden recommended the melt in your mouth Sirloin Steak and Angry Duck Mohavi Speciality. The presentation of the dishes as well as the taste and portions were spectacular.

Parking space is great. Evening vibe is very cosy with the lighting. Apparently they had a great Spa deal special for mothers day, wish I knew earlier, but anyways, great location. I ordered the vegetarian Phad Thai Pak medium and asked to have Tofu added it was really delicious. My partner ordered the Sweet and Sour pork + with egg fried rice as an option he preferred my veg option over his. i loved mine. Compliments to the chef. I thought the pond vibe and music reminded us of Phuket street life. It's not really a romantic vibe type of place for the club like music they play. Seems better for groups of friends. I noticed the drinks menu is reasonably cheap a margarita for R54 ?! That's cheap. Can't wait to try that. Will go again to try the Spa and the drinks and dessert. They are 3 months old, hope I don't miss any spa specials again, and the waiters were great! Keep it up if...
