my worst dining experience came from Poppy's, I visited this restaurant on Valentines day, ordered a "samoosa" starter that was drenched in oil and took 45 minutes to prepare after complaining twice about how long it was taking and when it was finally presented, the samoosas were store bought and was not the ingredients as advertised on the menu but out of desperation I managed to eat.

For the mains I order a "500g" T BONE Steak medium rare and my partner ordered the lamb chops after waiting ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES we finally received our mains, and what I received was a club steak that was approximately 350g and completely overcooked that it was charred and the lamb chops as well, no care about presentation or how the mains were ordered.

The staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, after waiting almost two hours for food I decided to leave the restaurant and the manager had the cheek to make us pay for the meals and after I told her it was not what we asked for she chased us away without apologizing for the service.

The mind blowing part of the whole ordeal was that all the managers friends and family members who had a birthday party were being served before us and even received their mains before we even received starters.

We attended a birthday party and the Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels event at Poppeys.

The good: the music and vibe was awesome. People were all having fun and it was safe. I would go back just for the vibe, even after taking into account the bad stuff below.

The bad: The service by our waiter Ace was simply terrible. The poor guy seemed overwhelmed. We were a big group of people. We could not get his attention at all and when we did, he battled keep track of the drinks and food orders and a lot of incorrect items were eventually served to us. It might have been a lot better if there was another waiter to assist as well.

More than 45 minutes after arriving we were still not able to place drinks order so I stupidly went to the bar to place the order. The bar manager should not be working in the service industry. He berated me for coming to the bar and the entire time I was there waiting for my order he was complaining that the orders must be placed with the waiter. The entire evening the bar was full of patrons ordering and collecting drinks at the bar. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Poppys has a niche and those people enjoy it from what you can see. When they have events, they flooded the parking area and that is where things gets nasty: it is not the place fault when clients get rowdy and engage in altercation with guests. However, if Poppys can be strict when their clients have zero respect by double parking, parking people in, are not considered to other businesses. Client drive into one of the shops downstairs and it is weeks and not being fixed. Some patrons drink openly in parking areas and there is constant Issues in the parking area when they busy: Security NON EXISTENT in the parking area and poorly trained one parking guard. Stay away on busy nights if you don’t want to be parked in. One u reached the entrance of Poppys, things are better: You get properly searched at the door and that is a big bonus. Bought tickets before the time which is a bonus. Place is fun to be inside. It is definitely be worth it to visit. Poppys would do their regular patrons a great service if they clean up the parking area. It is going on for years and the same issues happens.
