The Grillhouse Sandton — Restaurant in Gauteng

The Grillhouse Sandton overall is an amazing experience. The location of the restaurant gives you a perfect view as you enjoy your meal. The presentation of the food is lovely and the prices are inexpensive compared to their competitor steakhouses located around the area.

The only problem that ruined the night for me was the situation with my server. Overall, our server was not friendly or interactive. He never even told us his name. He didn’t speak much. So it was quite hard.

What made it worse happened layered. We went to The Grillhouse Sandton to celebrate my husband’s birthday as he was turning 38. I had spoke to our server about bringing out something to celebrate him. He said ok after my husband finished eating. 15 mins after my husband had finished still there was nothing. There was no communication of what was going to happen and to make it more confusing the waiter came and gave us desert menus. I was so confused. Where was the special surprise.... so I found a higher up sever to help me. When our waiter finally came with a lit sparkler on a square slice of cake he just sat it on the table and walked away. There was no happy birthday, no here you are sir, congratulations, nothing. Not a word. Just say it on the table and walked away. I started laughing because my husband thought it was a desert and was trying to tel him he had brought it the wrong table. I had to tell my husband it was for him for his birthday. The biggest let down experience.

Because we went to the restaurant to solely celebrate my husbands birthday and surprise him- the experience from the waiter truly ruined our evening.

When it comes to the food I would give 3.5 to 4 stars but when it comes to the experience I give 1 star. That’s how bad the experience was...

We visited the grill house on 9th April our 9th anniversary. 1.i called made a reservation and made sure to indicate the detail of our anniversary and the guy said he had noted. We arrived on time, 7pm. We were seated outside. Friday night is not a night to be there if you are hoping for a silent night. Its like a bar out the terrace. Friends and colleagues meeting up for a night out. So expect noises. Rather seat inside but also away from the private room which usually hosts a large group.

Pros. 1.We requested a heater and it was brought. 2.The BREAD!!! AMAZINGGGG. I LOVED IT. It preps you just right for your meal. Soft with the best butter.. Ah. 3.The waiters are on standby. The plates are cleared quickly. Service was relatively good. 4.My sons beef burger was GOOD. It was a REAL Burger.And Huge! For an affordable price. 5.THE VIEWS ahh.. Loved it.

Cons: 1.Our waiter was rather rushy rushy. We get you want to go but give recommendations. I mean how do they upsell?? THE MEAT Nahhh. We ordered sirloin and rump and were under whelmed. We both requested medium to well done and it was EXTREMELY WELLDONE. The plating was as though I was going to a a fast food eatery. No plating etiquette whatsoever.. Smh The veggies were dryyyy. The broccoli and cauli were just bland. OUR ANNIVERSARY wasn't acknowledged Guys! Smh Grills were under under whelming for a grillhouse...

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Grillhouse Sandton for a special date night, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional.
