I telephoned Lily's early in the morning to ask if they took reservations, they advised they did not until lunch time. I was trying to make a reservation for my birthday lunch for 10 people for 11:30 for lunch at 12. We arrived at Lily's at 11:00 to make sure we had enough seats and we were told we could only order food at 12. This was fine because we could order drinks until then and most girls were arriving at 11:30. A few of us who arrived earlier already had our coffees and our drinks, however the last girl who arrived was not helped some 30 minutes after she was seated. It also started raining, I put my dog in the car (with the window wide open) as dog's are not allowed inside the restaurant and the hostess wouldn't give us a table under the roof.12:10 arrived and we weren't even given a menu and even though a table had been open for the whole hour, we still were't moved out the rain. We also had to request a menu and waited another 20 minutes. No waiter came to take our order and the hostess refused to move us inside. We decided enough was enough. We called the waiter, asked for our bill, and one of the girls spoke to the manager who was equally unhelpful. She took two items off our bill, but made us feel as though we were the inconsiderate ones, even though we sat for 30 minutes in the rain hoping to get service or seats inside - AFTER i put my dog in my car. We were a group of 10 girls coming for lunch for my 28th birthday. We ended up going to Newport Deli and were awe struck at the fantastic service they gave us.
If you are a young girl under 40 years old, I can assure you that Lily's and their staff do NOT respect you or take you seriously as a customer. I will never go there again....
Read moreAlways a warm welcome at Lily’s on arrival. Even on the cold wet day we decided to have a brunch celebration, with the eldest child spreading her wings to Europe and the Old Man back to New Zealand to enjoy his retirement, the atmosphere was ever so inviting. Im a great fan of this all-day eatery that serves up classic contemporary food along the iconic Mouille Point seaside mile, complete with heaters in winter to complete the chic decor and comfy chairs to slide into.
An ever popular spot for locals and visitors alike, suits as a great meeting spot, wether for coffee, breakfast (serving Mimosas too) or lunch. There is an after-work drinks crowd that settles in for sundowners flanked by sunset dinners overlooking the Atlantic that I’ve heard about.
The menu options are terrific, a little bit of everything, more enough for all palates even plant based options, with a worthy drinks lists. My general point of order for this eatery is breakfast, because it’s just done properly, and I can have a Mimosa with my Benedict. My very happy place! My wife opted for the breakfast salad, made up of Almonds, Quinoa, Garlic, Baby Spinach, Kale, Grilled Haloumi & Soft Boiled Egg, to which she was delighted. While my daughter opted for a simpler option of House Granola, Yoghurt, Honey & Fresh Fruit, again that was thoroughly enjoyed. Dad sipped some coffees and as did Mimosa’s, while we were waited on by enthusiastic efficient staff. I particularly enjoy the attention to detail, like the fresh white napkin on offer, that nowadays is becoming quite rare in the industry. I truly delightful...
Read moreI have always seen people posting about this place on Instagram and I had to try it out.
I was definitely not disappointed. We booked ahead of time for a table as sometime it is busy and we didn’t want to miss out.
Service was impeccable. The atmosphere welcoming and warm. The decor of the place beautiful and lovely seating. I love they have this plastic tarps especially with the wind you might encounter which worked perfectly.
We ordered the popcorn squid and the Tumble Weed Goat cheese. The popcorn squid was good and the chilli gave it that kick. But OMW was the Tumble Weed Goat cheese not the most divine thing ever. I would high recommend and will definitely come back for more. The fresh and crispness from the apple just balances the whole starter.
The mains we had the Lilly’s KFC and the Kung Poa Chicken. The chicken was delicious and juicy. Nice and crispy batter. Loved the aioli that came with it. The Kung Poa was good maybe a tad bit dry but had all that flavour needed.
There was so many things on the menu that I would like to try and I will definitely come back again. All the food just sounds so delicious.
I have the virgin mojito was slightly disappointed. Was way too much ice than actually anything to drink. The pIneapple crush on the other hand was super yummy.
Overall a great experience and I would definitely...
