Baby wanted a steak ..and when Baby wants a steak- Baby gets a steak🥩🤣. My love was craving a steak dinner- after a quick search it was decided that we would try the Butcher Shop & Grill. We didn't have a reservation, so we were seated at the family style table, which was great because we met an awesome new friend. Why you should eat here!? The space is impeccable, every thing was so well crafted from the exquisite leather stools, to the leather apron which my husband loves. The lighting was perfect, made for a nice intimate setting to dine alone, with friends/family, or with a good book as one patron did- he was definitely a return guest. The shop had carefully selected items and pairings for said items- love the oyster tank, it is such a cleaver idea. My husband had the ribeye- medium rare with pepper sauce, and I had the grilled pork chops with pineapple and a sweet potato. It was man against steak and man won- he enjoyed every bite. My pork chops were overcooked and dry, but still flavorful. I didn't try the potato as it was also overdone. My meal was not great- pork has to be handled carefully or else you get sawdust. Our server accidentally poured water in my husband's whisky and charged for a replacement- we didn't catch it until days later and after we left Cape Town. Overall we had an amazing experience and lovely service which made up for the shortcomings. We will absolutely return and I will try something else. Why you should not eat here: not sure that this would be a great place if you have small children. Granted we did not see the entire restaurant- but from what I saw it is definitely a place for adults and older children at best. You should not eat here if you are looking for fast and/or cheap food.. This place is an experience and experiences tend to cost a bit more. Overall a 5 star experience.

An absolute MUST for tourist foodies visiting Cape Town. The complimentary boerewors bites in the tomato sauce served with the bread were delicious. The overall experience itself was incredible, and being able to personally pick out my fresh cut of steak (South African Wagyu sirloin) was super rewarding. The butchers and waitstaff were incredibly knowledgeable about the food and lend their own preference and opinions if you feel overwhelmed by the choices available. You absolutely get what you pay for here, we hardly waited more than 15-20 minutes from when we selected our steak, told the waiter how we wanted it cooked, to receiving our meals, which were cooked perfectly and served piping hot! Nothing stood around waiting to get cold. All this despite being incredibly busy. The butcher even came up to see how we were getting on with our meals despite being sat all the way up the stairs. We also ordered the bone marrow (yummy!) and the most delicious steak sauces (I had mushroom cream sauce, my partner had peppercorn). The chips were also out of this world! Incredibly flavoursome, crispy and also very hot! Bongani, our server, was incredibly friendly and helpful, so a big shoutout to the man himself! The cheesecake here sealed the deal, for real! The proof really was in the pudding here! Best meal I have ever had in my life - will most certainly be back, and not soon enough! ❤️

I haven't been to the Butcher Shop in ages and I cannot understand why, the restaurant is awesome. My fiance and I had a friend of hers join us for dinner - it was her birthday (I had no idea). We kicked things off with a prawn cocktail as a starter - we just shared it (purely as a nibble). We ordered some drinks, one of them being a popular choice, the Butcher's Clever. We then moved on to our mains; we ordered the beef sirloin on the bone, the beef fillet and lamb chops. I can, without a doubt, say that it is some of the best steak/beef and lamb I've ever eaten. The sirloin I had was recommended to me by our waiter and I'm really glad I opted for that dish it was delicious! Also a massive offering that I could not finish and ended up taking home. After we were finished with the mains we moved on to dessert. We took a tiramisu and just shared it. It was more than enough dessert for each of us. We also ordered an americano coffee which was great. The waiters organise a birthday message for our friend on the tiramisu plate which she loved. Funny thing happened, the table next to us started singing happy birthday in French it was so random but it put a smile on everyone in the restaurant's faces. Very cool! I highly recommend the Butcher's Shop & Grill. Babygirl and I are planning on heading up again soon. 🔜💪🍴🥂

This is a top rated place restaurant, located beautifully across the road from the beach front, we sat at what could be considered the best seat in the house by the window but rather than the ocean breeze, we were stuck with the car park and #Massive road noise... The waiter and great wine saved the day, sadly the portion of the side order was embarrassing I received a small baked sweet potato and my friend who flew in from overseas (which is why I took him to this top rated restaurant), received his French fries in a small silver dish just enough for a three (3) year old baby and you could count them. There was so much room on the white plate next to the average looking dry ribs... Sadly, the pork ribs tasted like a local Spur restaurant where I take my eleven (11) year old son. Frankly for all the hype, I will happily take my wife and son back to @Spur but left paying a lot of money for very little, it doesn't even compare to an @OutBackSteakHouse We arrived with so much excitement, the waiter really painted a great picture, great job serving the wine, then the food experience... So disappointing...

A friend suggested this venue for lunch & I've always wanted to give it a try. Well it happened & I was blown away by the eatery's interior totally on point. We were greeted with a huge smile by our server - George - what a utterly pleasant guy with a great knowledge of the menu & he made us feel welcome & at ease as soon as he started explaining the menu to us, thank you for that. Nothing was to much for him & he did it all with a killer smile. We placed our orders & we were totally blown away by the manner in which our cuisine was served. It's not every day that a server tray is used at the table as a method of serving, nice touch guys. I had the rib eye steak & it was delicious beyond words as was all the side orders we placed. The consensus at the table was, guys you killed it & everything was spot on, well done to all. I had the Malva Pudding & this was also to die for as well. Note to self - put this venue on the favourites list & call it - new gem discovered. To the management and staff thank you for a great experience & you will be seeing us again. Kind regards Ferdie Liebenberg

An incredible restaurant. A definite must visit if you are ever in Cape Town. Great selection of steak 🥩 and wine🍷. The staff are super friendly and very helpful. If you are like me who can’t really make up my mind when presented with several equally amazing options then you will definitely need the staff here. Ask for the game of the day or describe your taste to them and they’ll definitely recommend something great to have and an equally amazing wine to accompany with. To get an even better experience, try at least to reserve a table in advance because it gets busy sometimes and a walk in won’t guarantee you those amazing seats with a view of the sunset. When the weather is nice, you can seat outside which makes the experience even more magical. An impeccable place to enjoy great steak, wine and conversation with a friend or family. This review doesn’t fully describe just how much of a great experience we had. Wholeheartedly recommend it.
