I found this great place on a whim while scrolling on instragram and I’m so glad I made the choice to go! I had been search for a great local sushi place and Mr Lin’s is exactly! The restaurant is well located in Observatory, the actual setup of the restaurant is great (I would advise reserving a table in advance to avoid disappointment as it get full) and they also do take out. I had the sushi special of the day (there are daily specials) and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and healthy portions of the the food. Price wise is it more than reasonable, I paid an average of R7/ piece of sushi. My friend had the dumplings alongside sweet and sour chicken with rice and quite enjoyed their meal. Service was average (7/10) and the again, the ambience was good. Mr Lin’s also seem unaffected by loadshedding (for those who know the struggle 😂). Overall great place, I’ll definitely be going back and try everything else on their menu :)

Decided to have supper for my birthday at Mr Lin's. Must say the food was delicious, perfect portion sizes and affordable. Lovely music and beautiful presentation. The only issue was that no one was present to seat us however the staff assisted after I gestured to seat myself. I ordered Shiumai and Traditional steamed dumplings for starters which was absolutely yummy and goes perfect with the complimentary Chilli and Soy. As an extra, I ordered Salmon platter as I've been feeling for sushi and I must say ... it hit the spot. For mains, I had the Classic Japanese soup Ramen ( Pork ) was just divine and so so so filling. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and I will be visiting again 😊

Mr Lin's was fun. The use of dry ice to create the smoking effect was cool and the presentation was all pretty. I ordered the pork ramen which was good - the pork was tasty and succulent and the noodles were good. The soup lacked that authentic rich ramen flavour. The thick coriander stems should've been removed. Sushi lacked the balance of flavours - they doused it with mayo, soy sauce and teriyaki -making the sushi rice go soggy and far too salty. Good service . Lovely simple decor. Overall for us foodies , the pretty presentation was great but the balance of flavours didn't quite hit the mark.

Cute little spot in Observatory. We went there on a Sunday night, and had the whole restaurant to ourselves.

They have both table and booth seatings, we opted for the booth and my friend was lucky enough to find a pillow on her side of the booth.

Their menu is very extensive. It’s literally a whole flip file of a variety of dishes. As we weren’t too hungry we opted for their dumplings. I had their pork fried dumplings and she had their steamed dumplings as well as their Potstickers. I also ordered their tempura prawn sushi.

The food was good. I really enjoyed the dumplings over their sushi which for me was very underwhelming. My friend loved their potstickers and swears by them.

I loved the ambiance they created with their very interesting music selection. They played reggae covers of very famous pop songs. Like Katy Perry Fireworks on the backtrack of a reggae tune, can you imagine that haha.

The service was kind of slow, but I can attribute it to us being their last customers before closing time. Otherwise we had a lovely waiter who catered to all our needs and answered all our questions.

Everything here is decently priced , and the food I must say is quite filling, (well for me) .

I definitely will come here again, so I do suggest if your reading this to...

I am a sushi fanatic! It's my absolute favorite, and I've only been to the best places (fresh, or frozen). A little while ago, I received a humble follow from this cute little restaurant, and actually appreciated that they were trying to earn a name for themselves. I've been begging my partner and I to go, but because we stay in a safer area, we have chosen not to and instead decide to go a bit closer to home. I enquired about an all you can eat buffet, in which the owner happily responded "yes!" And I was so excited and I really couldn't wait to try them out. Today, however, I enquired again if they still had the option, and was given late feedback by the rudest, most arrogant responder (someone in the customer service industry!) I have ever encountered. It's as if they think they are the best in town, when in fact, they are just currently "trending" and will fade away eventually once the hype dies down and rent becomes too expensive. I was blocked by the very account, that followed ME, whom I took pity on, and followed back, wanting to give their business a chance. Local is definitely not lekker, and their attitude is not as fresh as they claim...

Delicious, tasty food. A great selection of Asian cuisine. Having ordered this many times on uber eats, we decided to visit the restaurant. It happened to be happy hour and we were greeted with Japanese whiskey. Quite an interesting surprise!

Overall, not bad. Comfy booth seats. Perhaps the menu could trimmed down a bit/or it could do with a clever redesign to make it more modern as it is an entire flip file. It was also a bit distracting that delivery drivers have to walk through the restaurant to collect orders. There isn't much ambience in the restaurant. Loud kitchen staff and delivery drivers playing music on their phones?

Food wise: So far, we have had the dim sum (yum yum), the Tokyo ramen (absolutely delicious! Highly recommended!) and the chilli noodles (huge portion and so tasty!). Friends had the angry beef and Thai red curry. Tender meat, well cooked veg and form tofu. Really good and authentic. The only strange meal was the Tom Yum soup. Didn't taste quite like the real deal. It was rather thick and bitty. Perhaps also needed more spice and coconut milk.

All in all, excellent for ordering takeaway. Decent...
