Our SECOND EXPERIENCE AT FABIO’s when we are staying in Hermanus again. Still a 1 star, when it is actually not even worth the one star. This time ordered take away pizza. Trust me when I say it was the WORST PIZZA we have ever had. First of all R315 for two VEGETARIAN pizzas, crust was oily and flakey - like pastry dough - so weird. Also charging a fee for take away pizza?! Seriously… We have never experienced this at all from any pizza place, not even in the busy Cape Town CBD or at top restaurants! This restaurant unfortunately just won’t have our support ever again, after we wanted to give them another shot last time we were here. They are not worth the hype for us. Our advice, don’t waste your money, this is not (authentic) pizza and especially at that price point. 19/03/2023
We were very disappointed to arrive there after a long day's driving, although we did not have a reservation, friends who live in Hermanus told us we won't need one, and at 7pm on a Sunday for dinner we were told that the kitchen is closed for orders. There weren't even other alternate options recommended by them to us. We were really looking forward to try the food, as they came recommended to us by friends/locals. The restaurant was not even at full capacity with the regulations and most of the outside seating was open (and even seating inside).
Feedback on the owner's response: Dear Fabio, I appreciate your response, but I am sorry, it was not loadshedding at that time, loadshedding only started there at 8pm. If your restaurant is under pressure and the kitchen cannot deliver food to a half full restaurant, maybe you should re-evaluate your seating capacity. I would also suggest that we could have been informed in a more polite manner than what we were told: "the kitchen is closed and we're not serving anyone else", which came across quite rude and without any other restaurants as recommendations, if one cannot assist patrons at your restaurant. I do appreciate your feedback, but I do not appreciate that you say ""pls feel free to email me anytime directly rather that using social media as a medium , I’m a good person & love my business Ciao Fabio" I am a reviewer, and Google Reviews is a platform used for this. If I wanted to, I could have run to all other social media platforms, which I did not do. If you don't want your restaurant being reviewed, you can have Google Reviews remove your business from the platform. My review was to inform people of MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, and the means that you are providing in trying to set it right yet from your type of response it is clear that you are not taking ownership/responsibility, this is what patrons need to be made aware of. Also, please note that you even got my name incorrect, no one spells their name with an...

Read moreFor people like me who need more than just a 5 star when looking at reviews, I will give you a breakdown of my boyfriend and myself's experience at Fabio's Authentic Ristorante Italiano.
Here is a SUMMARY of the food for people who hate long reviews: The food was in total incredible and in my boyfriend's words "you would have to fight me to not come back here when we are in hermanus again." (Update: we came back and he didn’t need to fight me to do so… Review is still spot on from previous experience)
Long review: Let's dig into the food: After a looking through a few reviews we decided we would really like some pasta (and we never have pasta when there is pizza so we were curious). We were floored by the tricolor penne pasta dish. I had the gorgonzola, mushroom and pesto options and my boyfriend had pomodoro, mushroom and pesto options. It is important to note that these are not sauces mixed together but rather partitioned on warm to the touch bowls. The bowls were not like starters and filled us up even though we are huge pasta eaters. However, even though we were super satisfied with our potions in our main, we got very curious about the chocolate lava cake which was served warm and decorated on a chilled plate. I love the small details when a restaurant uses appropriate temperatures on thier plates and I think it is a great touch.
Music and ambience: It was a very tranquil inside and the music was really interesting to listening to. It wasn't too loud and the music really fit the feeling of the restaurant. My boyfriend really enjoyed the music (huge music enthusiast) and said the band was heavily influenced by the beach boys in his opinion.
Decor: There was many interesting things to look at while we waited for our food. Abit dark inside where we sat but we...
